Thollon is located high on the mountain overlooking Lake Geneva (Lac Leman), approximately 10 km from the lakeside town of Evian les Bains. Thollon les Memises is a small, quiet village with local supermarket, friendly bars and restaurants. Thollon is also known as the balcony of Lake Geneva because of its fantastic views across the Lake into Switzerland.

The location is perfect for summer by the lake when the town of Evian comes alive with lakeside activities, there are various water sports, water parks and plenty of places nearby to go and see. Winter skiing in the village is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers with the choice of both Thollon and the nearby village of Bernex. The busier and larger ski resorts of Chatel and Avoriaz are within easy reach taking approximately 30 and 45 minutes by car.

Accommodation detail

The apartment is on the third floor of a small block close to the village centre, with a south-facing balcony that catches the sun for most of the day. The entrance to the apartment is through a hallway containing storage cupboards.

The large L-shaped living area with dining room, kitchenette and lounge, comprises:

• Kitchen area - cooking facilities for self catering include sink and drainer, fridge, 4 ring hob, there is also a combination oven and microwave with grill, vegetable steamer and slow cooker. All cutlery and crockery are provided as well as a small electric barbecue for use on the balcony.
• Dining area - large pine table with seating for up to six, the large window opens up to the balcony with a view of the mountain.
• Lounge area - two double sofa beds for additional guests if required, coffee table, radio, TV, video and DVD player, the lounge area will comfortably seat six.

Off the main area are two bedrooms, comprising:

• Bedroom one - a double bed and wardrobes
• Bedroom two - a family room with two full sized single beds, child's bed and cot. The cot may be replaced by another child's bed.
• Bathroom - with shower
• Separate WC

Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space. All rooms in the apartment have electric heating.

About the location

Sightseeing

Take a paddle steamer across the Lake to Switzerland, or visit the pretty medieval town of Yvoire. Other days out could take in Chamonix with a visit to the glacier and snow covered mountain of Mt Blanc, or Annecy old town with its riverside shops and restaurants. Drive through the mountains for white water rafting and climbing activities.

The central location offers easy access to the rest of Europe, including Switzerland, Italy and the much of France.

How to get here

By air 45mins by car from Geneva Airport. Take the N5 from Geneva to Evian.Turn right at the Lights in Evian taking the D24 to Thollon.

By Car take the A26 from Calais to Reims, A4 through  Reims to Troyes, then A5 & A31 to Dijon then A39 & A40 to Geneva Exit Motorway at J15 taking the D903 & N206/N5 to Evian.  Turn right at the Lights in Evian taking the D24 to Thollon. Journey time from Calais about 7hrs driving plus any added stops.
