Les Perchettes is our tranquil Normandy cottage, stone built in 1689. It's situated in the heart of rural Normandy, just over an hour's drive from Cherbourg or Caen, where you can glimpse an earlier, simpler lifestyle but with modern conveniences.

Ideally organised for family groups or friends holidaying together - Games Room, Utility with washer and dryer and gardens are shared, but we have two kitchens and living areas. NOT let as separate units.

This is the countryside of cider trees, sheep, granite and chestnuts. Come in the spring for primroses and apple blossom, come in summer for sunshine which does not frazzle and unspoiled beaches where children really enjoy themselves, come in autumn or winter for log fires and signposted woodland walks.

Accommodation detail

The house has massive oak beams, antique furniture, log fires and a wonderful ambiance. It comprises:

• Kitchen - fully equipped and includes a dishwasher.
• Living / Dining Room - with traditional French dining table and benches, armchairs, sideboard, a large antique armoire, a massive granite fireplace. There is no central heating but there is plenty of wood to burn and also there are various oil-filled electric radiators around the house.
• Bedroom 1 - double bed with an en suite WC and shower room.
• Bedroom 2 - double bed (family bathroom across the landing).
• Bedroom 3 - Loft bedroom with double bed and one single, en suite wc and wash basin NB This room is due for redecoration.
• Bathroom - corner bath with shower
• Games room - with table tennis, table football and darts
• Utility room - with washing machine and tumble dryer
• West living room with corner kitchen, woodburning stove, gas cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave
• Bedroom 4 with double bed and en suite shower/wc
• Bedroom 5 with single bed
• Outside - Garden with furniture and barbecue and a field to romp in. Climbing frame with slide. Unfenced pond with goldfish.

About the location

Les Perchettes is situated in the south of the Cherbourg peninsula in a small hamlet 2 km south of the village of St Pois with local shops. The towns of Villedieu, Avranches, and Vire are all less than 30 minutes drive, sandy beaches around Granville can be reached in 3/4 hour.

Visit nearby Villedieu with its copperware and bell foundry, Bayeux, home to the famous tapestry, the Normandy landing beaches and Mont St Michel. There are castles and markets, cider and cheese, wonderful restaurants, time and space to enjoy the atmosphere and unwind.

There is a superb restaurant within walking distance of the cottage.

How to get here

Ferry to Caen (1hr 15mins drive), Cherbourg (1 hr 45 mins drive), St Malo (2 hours drive). Ryanair to Dinard or Rennes (1 hr 15mins drive). About 260 miles from the tunnel or Calais.
