Home description

This restored stone and cob cottage is just 20 minutes from some of the best beaches in the area. These range from wild dunes, with sandy rock pools, to the splendid beach in the centre of Dinard, with its many cafés and restaurants.

Originally a Breton barn, the cottage keeps its ancient beams while providing a light, comfortable space where the visitor can enjoy views across the garden and the valley beyond. It sits on a sleepy country lane, within a small hamlet, near the village of Pleslin, half way between medieval Dinan and the lively town of Dinard providing an excellent base from which to explore this lovely part of France.

• La Forgette sits within and shares a secluded part of the owners' spacious and well established garden. There is a barbecue, picnic bench, swings and climbing frame.
• Walk to Pleslin via ‘The Megaliths’ - 64  ancient  stones surrounded by trees.

About the location

This area is renowned for its wonderful sandy beaches (20 minute drive), historic market towns, excellent restaurants and seafood. The beautiful medieval town of Dinan on the River Rance (10 minute drive) is a must and many other historic towns such as St Malo, Dinard, Dol de Bretagne and Combourg are only twenty minutes' drive away. The famous Mont St Michel, Cancale with its oyster beds and Cap Frehel are also within easy reach of La Forgette.

In Pleslin there is an excellent bakers, a small supermarket, Post Office and pharmacy all a couple of minutes' drive away or a 15–20 minute walk via the Megalithic stones, our local historic site.

How to get here

La Forgette is just 20 minutes' drive from the port of St Malo, approximately 2 hours' drive from Caen and 2.5 hours from Cherbourg. Dinard Airport (Ryan Air from Stanstead (car hire available) is a ten minute drive and Rennes airport and train Station (TGV Paris) 40 minutes' drive.
