Maison du Forgeron is a charming stone 'Maison du Village' with roomy and delightful accommodation arranged over three floors. Located in Valbonne, this traditional beamed house with tiled floors and balcony is ideally placed for beaches at Cannes, Antibes and Nice or for exploring the surrounding provencal villages. Valbonne itself is picturesque, but with all facilities including shops such as a delicatessen, a chocolatiere and a local potter as well as art galleries and a good selection of bars and restaurants situated around the beautiful arcaded village square which is only 2 minutes walk from the house. There is also an excellent open air swimming complex for the summer months on the outskirts of the village. This character house is ideal for couples or families.

Top Floor

• Living room - this large room with vaulted ceiling enjoys a balcony overlooking the rooftops to the bell tower of the old Mairie and has  an attractive raised fire place for winter months. There is a collection of indoor games and a DVD player.
• Kitchen / Dining room - this open plan area is well equipped with all necessities and houses a large dining table seating up to ten. 

Second Floor

• Double bedroom - with beamed ceiling

• Shower room - w.c.

First Floor

• Twin bedroom
• Spare room - a walk-through room with bunk beds. This room is enclosed with door leading to twin bedroom.
• Bathroom - w.c.

Ground Floor

• Garage / Utility room - where there is a washing machine, picnic table and outdoor/beach toys 

The house has electric heating for the winter months as well as an open fire. The accommodation is rustic and charming.

About the location

The Medieval village of Valbonne is situated in the provencal region of France a few miles from Grasse (10 mins) and between the Cote d'Azur's fashionable coastal resorts of Nice (25 mins) and Cannes (20 mins). Greolieres-les-neiges and Isola 2000 (for skiing) are about 1 and 2 hours' drive respectively.

The picturesque village itself features traditional french architecture of painted stone houses in ochre and terracotta set around beautiful cobbled streets and the magical arcaded square which offers an array of al fresco cafes, bars and restaurants. There is a range of shops in the village including a bakers, a tabac, a butcher and a delicatessen as well as several art galleries, antique shops and boutiques.

There are some pleasant walks along the river by the edge of the village and every Friday morning the village bustles with a large market. Numerous fetes take place during the year including a wonderful Mimosa Festival at the end of January for the St Blaise historic church and a Potters Fair in September. There is also a brocante on the first Sunday of every month.

How to get here

Flights  to Nice go from Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and other regional airports. The Eurostar service from Ashford/London (changing in Lille or Paris) is also very good, arriving in Cannes or Antibes.
