Home description

La Vigne Chambre D’Hotes, La Vigne Farmhouse, and La Petite Vigne are in the ideal location for exploring the beautiful Normandy countryside, a beach holiday, week-end break, house hunting trip, golfing holiday, or a great place to stop to break up a journey south.

All our properties are set within 15 acres of farmland which you are welcome to explore. Our fields are ideal safe areas for playing football, flying kites, or just generally having a run round.  We have a pond in the top corner of one of our fields, which you are more than welcome to have a go at fishing.  Or play with our ponies, horse, goats, or cats.  All very friendly and used to people.

The Beach and surrounding area.  We are only 15 minutes away from beautiful unspoilt sandy beaches, Hauteville, being our closest beach.  We are situated just outside the pretty and friendly village of Trelly, where you will find a very well stocked village shop, boulangerie, bucherie, bar tabac, café bar, and restaurant.  It is possible to walk into Trelly by a country lane but it does take around 30 minutes as the lane is definitely ‘not as the crow flies’

We are situated just 10 minutes south of Coutances, 5 minutes North of Gavray, and 20 minutes north of the busy seaside resort of Granville, all of which offer markets on various days of the week.

On site we have 1 horse, 2 ponies, 2 goats (not smelly), and 3 cats. All are very friendly and you and your family are more than welcome to pet any of our animals.

La Petite Vigne

La Petite Vigne offers everything you could wish for in a gite. It has two beautifully appointed bedrooms, one with twin beds, the other with a double bed.  An open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, again with English tv and dvd. 

• Kitchen/dining area - well equipped kitchen and dining area.
• Lounge area - with comfortable seating for 6 people, English TV, DVD, Stereo, and log burning fire.
• Bedroom 1 - with a double bed
• Bedroom 2 - with two single beds
• Family bathroom
• Mezzanine area - at the top of the stairs, which houses another single bed.

Outside

The gite has its own garden and patio area with barbecue and seating and there is access to play equipment for children.  Guests are more than welcome to explore our 15 acres of land for flying kites, playing football, or just having a stroll around.  We do have ponies, and would ask that all gates are closed behind them please.  We also have a pond in one of our fields (see pictures), which guests are more than welcome to have a go at fishing.

Places to visit

• Mont-St-Michel - the most visited monument in France is approximately 40 minutes   away although can get extremely busy in the height of summer.
• Dinard and Dinan in Britanny - are just over an hour away and are both beautiful places to spend a day.
• The Bayeux tapestry - and the famous Normandy landing beaches are within an hour.
• Villedieu - the famous copper town is just 15 minutes and is well worth a visit.
• Coutances - with its beautiful Cathedral and gardens is just 10 minutes away.
• Granville - which boasts a marina and many sea food restaurants is only 20 minutes.
• Avranches, St. Lo and Caen - are all within easy reach.

There are lots of places of interest to visit on the doorstep, not to mention the fantastic zoo at Champrepus, near Villedieu, which will keep the children occupied for a full day.

On a Sunday from about May to October you will be able to find a Vide Grenier (a car boot sale to the British), which is nothing compared to the British version. A full family day out is had by all, where beer tent, sausage stalls, music, and at some of the venues horse shows can be found. You can generally buy anything at all, in fact Charlie our proud Cock was purchased for just 6 Euros at one of these events, haggled for by the owners' 9 year old son Sam.

The farmhouse is situated just 1hr  15 minutes' drive from Cherbourg.  1 hr 15 minutes from Caen, 2hr 15 from Le Havre.  1hr 15 from Dinard airport
