La Retraite is situated in a small hamlet in the valley of the River Indre, part of the community of St Jean St Germain. It is five minutes south of the attractive medieval town of Loches with its markets, restaurants and shops. Plus it is easily accessible to the numerous chateaux and vineyards of the beautiful Loire Valley.

The farmhouse comfortably sleeps eight with two double (one with en-suite) and two twin bedrooms, large family bathroom, and two additional shower rooms. The large farmhouse kitchen has the original stone fireplace, and dining table to seat everyone.  Separate comfortable salon.

It is in a secluded location, nestling in its own grounds and surrounded by open countryside.

Holiday Accommodation at La Retraite

• Large, beamed farmhouse kitchen/diner with traditional stone fireplace, which is fully equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwaster.  Large dining area and additional comfortable seating area.
•  Lounge, overlooking the garden and wood, well furnished and has ample room for eight people to relax, plus fireplace and wood burning stove.  A tv,DVD/CD player, books and games are provided as alternative entertainment.
• A separate utility room leads off the kitchen, with large fridge/freezer to supplement the fridge in the kitchen and provide space for those extra bottles! Plus additional sink and storage units. 
• Four bedrooms: upstairs are two large bedrooms (one double and one twin-bedded) both with original beams,  On the ground floor are two bedrooms (again one double and one twin-bedded). All with separate access.
• Luxury en-suite to double bedroom and main family bathroom upstairs.  Two additional shower rooms with wc and washbasin, are provided on the ground floor.
• Laundry room with washing machine

Exterior        

• Private swimming pool (11m x 5m), with Roman steps and decking, is set in an extensive walled garden overlooking open countryside to one side and bordered by a shaded wooded dell on the other, plus a gazebo, which is ideal to escape the heat! Sun loungers and chairs are provided.
• Behind the farmhouse is a garden courtyard, flanked by two barns, where there is a large tiled terrace with table and chairs, and is an ideally situated BBQ area.  A real sun trap!
• The open barn provides covered parking for two cars.

About St Jean St Germain in Indre-et-Loire, Loire Valley

Although La Retraite is in a very quiet and secluded location it is only minutes away from the amenities you need. The village of Perusson is only a 3 minutes' drive away with a boulangerie to provide your morning croissants, together with a boucherie and bar. There is a large supermarket situated within 4 min's drive.

The nearby town of Loches (6 kilometres), has a variety of cafes, bars, shops and supermarkets plus an excellent twice-weekly market where local produce and wines can be purchased. The castle and Logis Royal, situated in the town, which was visited by Joan of Arc, are well worth visiting and open air productions are presented there during the summer.

The university town of Tours (40 mins' drive) also offers a variety of cultural events. The old town has a wide variety of shops and places to eat and drink.

How To Get To St Jean St Germain in Indre-et-Loire, Central France

Driving from the UK mainland it is easily accessible within a day (except if you are coming from the far north of England or Scotland!).  The two main routes are via Calais or Caen, which from either of these points it is a four - six hour journey on easy-driving motorways, excluding the final half hour which is mostly by main road.

The nearest airport is Tours, where flights operate daily from the UK by Ryanair.  It is then a 30- 40 minutes drive (approximately) to our property.   Excellent motorway connections to this area.  Ryanair also operate flights from Birmingham to Poitiers, which is an hour's drive to our property.
