This beautiful  200 year old stone cottage nestles in the Morvan Natural Parc, ideal for fabulous walking, cycling and water sports yet close enough to villages supplying all your needs including a famous chocolatier, great butcher,  boulangerie, regular markets, not to mention restaurants and bars. You can walk through the forest to Lac St Agnan- a peaceful and largely undiscovered lake to enjoy swimming, walking and canoeing.

The rest of the Morvan offers many delights- history and culture with places such as Beaune, Vezelay, Bazoches, Clamecy and Semur. Great opportunities for the energetic including canoeing, white water rafting, quad biking and excellent marked mountain bike trails.

Auxerre and Dijon are great for shopping and are beautiful historical cities. Being renowned as one of France's best areas for food and wine, you don't have to go far to sample the gastronomic delights- there are two 3 star Michelin restaurants nearby and numerous chances to sample the excellent Burgundian wines.

Loggers cottage sleeps up to 5. We are close at hand next door, happy to help but respecting your privacy. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

The Morvan Natural Parc, Burgundy  is 20 minutes drive from exit 22 on the A6, two hours south of Paris and five hours from Calais.

Ground floor:

• Large living/dining room with oak beams and exposed stone walls. There is a huge  fireplace with wood burning stove. Plenty of comfortable seating. Dining table.  TV, DVD player,  CD and radio. 
• Fully fitted kitchen with cooker, fridge and microwave.
• Shower room  Separate WC.
• Washing machine

Upstairs:

• Bedroom 1 with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. 
• Bedroom 2 with 3/4 antique bed and bunks, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

To the  front of the cottage is a driveway with private parking and a lawn where you can enjoy views over the wooded valley. There is also a lavoire,  an  ancient  washing place that belongs to the commune.   (These are all unfenced).

To the rear there is a totally private stone terrace with direct access to the logging trails and forest walks. There is a barbecue and plenty of outdoor furniture including sunloungers. 

About the location

The Morvan Natural Parc is like the Lake District without the crowds! Gentle hills lead down to clear, fast flowing streams which feed dozens of lakes.

The lake of St Agnan is a ten minute drive or a half hour walk from the rear of the cottage through the forest. It has sandy beaches and boat rentals in high season. Otherwise, you will have a 5km long lake to yourself!

Avallon our nearest town is worth a visit , it has a beautiful old town with ramparts and fabulous views down  the gorge. There are pavement cafes and restuarants and interesting little shops. There is a market on a Saturday.

On the edge of town is a big supermarket where you can buy anything from fresh produce to freezers to fishing bait.

In the area we have TWO 3 star Michelin restaurants as well as local auberges to suit all tastes and pockets.

The nearby village of Quarre les Tombes has a market twice weekly as well as butcher, baker and a famous chocolate shop. T

The UNESCO World Heritage site of  Vezelay is a must to visit with its wonderful Basilica.   12-13th century beautiful architecture.

How to get here

We are 20 mins from junction 22 on the A6. 2 hours South of Paris, 5 hours from Calais, 2hours North of Lyon. We are 45 mins from the TGV station at Montbard. 3 hours from Paris, Charles de Gaulle airport and 3 hours from Geneva airport.
