Home description

Idyllic south facing stone bergerie in the hills above the medieval villages of Fayence and Seillans.

Surrounded by olive terraces, this is a perfect retreat for the family or couple who wish to rent somewhere with character and charm, is an oasis of peace yet 4 minutes from the village of Fayence and Seillans with all their facilities.

Fayence is a perfect base for touring the Cote d'Azur and hills beyond - Monte Carlo is 1hr 15 mins away, Aix en Provence 1 hr 15 minutes to the west, Cannes and the coast 25 minutes, Saint Tropez 45 mins.

Complete calm and the most spectacular views over the Canton of Fayence and the hills. Parts of the bergerie/house date back 200 years and forms an annexe to the owners' main house (the owners are never in residence during rental periods). The entire house was refurbished recently .

The holiday house sleeps 6/7 people. (Not suitable for 4 couples – room configuration suits 3 couples, or family use of all 4 bedrooms).

There are entrances on both the Ground and First Floor levels and comprises:

Ground Floor:

• Bedroom 1 - 'Bay', twin bedroom - door opening to terrace
• Bedroom 2 - 'Carraway', double bedroom with bathroom en suite/WC - french windows to terrace
• Both rooms have same sweeping views as the top bedrooms

First Floor:

This level has the front door which leads to parking and the drive.

• Kitchen - small provencal painted open plan kitchen with bar and wrought iron bar stools - small oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is a gas barbecue on the terrace immediately across from the kitchen area. Washing machine. Second fridge for drinks outside on top terrace and a further fridge on Main terrace above pool.
• Living room - cosy but comfortable with working fireplace, simply furnished with wrought iron and cream canvas sofa/seagrass furniture with picture window overlooking views and French windows opening onto two stone terraces and garden. There is a TV and DVD.
• Dining room - area with a wooden provencal table and six chairs (this extends to seat 8)
• Bedroom 3 - 'Rosemary', large double master bedroom - magnificent views with shower room en suite.
• Bedroom 4 - 'Thyme', large twin bedroom - magnificent views
• Shower room/WC
• Separate WC

Outside:

There are far reaching views from both terraces. Steps lead down to the lower terrace and a large swimming pool. The main terrace has a table and seats 8/10. There is an outside fridge on this level and a separate gas barbecue.

The upper terraces have two sun loungers and a stone table plus a dining table and 8 chairs. There is also an outside fridge for drinks plus a second gas barbecue.

The pool has teak sun loungers and a teak table under the pergola that seats 8.

Not suitable for babies or small children because of the terraces and steps.

About the location

Fayence is a medieval town and has a market three times a week, a hairdresser and beauty salon, 3 bakeries plus a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants within the village itself. There are 12 restaurants tucked away in Fayence and its surroundings and the Michelin star restaurant Castelleras is a few minutes from the house along the back road to Seillans. Leclerc, Super U and Intermarche are all large supermarkets with fresh fish and meat supplied daily - all are within 5 - 15 minutes of the house. The Marche Paysanne supplies all the farmers' fresh produce daily within a short drive of the house.

Seillans has a lovely village square with many tiny restaurants tucked away in its cobbled streets. The Four Seasons has just opened its Domaine de Terre Blanche hotel about 15 minutes from the house with its magnificent views over Callian and taxing golf courses.

How to get here

To find Fayence/Seillens follow the Autoroute A8 from Nice to Junction 39. Take the D37 past Lac de St. Cassien until you reach the D562. Turn left and continue until you meet the D19. Take this to Fayence and continue on road towards Seillans.
