Home description

The property, close to Eygalieres, is set on a hill in four hectares of wild garrigue. The house is surrounded by an olive grove, pines, mulberry and oak trees. It faces south and enjoys a truly breathtaking view of the complete Alpilles mountain range. Ask owner for the website to see more.

Although the property is nicely secluded it has in the neighbourhood, cherries and  apricots fields. and you can get the famous sweet melons-de-Cavaillon in July and August.

Les Passadouires means in Provencal language "the passage of water"; it used to be an important water stop for migrating sheep during the spring and summer. A local shepherd still has his herd and you will occasionally meet him at sunset.

Five minutes away, within walking distance, the Domaine de Valdition is a vast property with vineyards, truffle oaks and olive groves. They produce a wide variety of excellent olive oils and of good rosé and red wines.

The house has an artistic "Gaudi" style, interesting decoration details and is comfortably appointed offering a relaxed holiday atmosphere. Please ask for the site of the property.

Les Passadouires hosts up to eight people and is well equipped:

• Kitchen - has all necessary modern appliances including dishwasher, washing machine, large American-style refrigerator, large modern gas cooker, electric oven, etc.
• Living/dining room - is spacious room with a large and very comfortable L-shaped sofa facing south the Alpilles mountains with lovely views also to the east and west. It is equipped with a large TV, DVD and Hi-Fi. The 4 meters large bay window opens onto the top terrace equipped with teak dining furniture.
• Two double bedrooms - each equipped with a double bed and face south the mountains and the infinity pool.
• Two twin bedrooms - each equipped with twin beds and overlook the garrigue, one is a mezzanine ideally suited for children.
• Two bathrooms - are each equipped with two washbasins and a shower. One is set on the side of the house, has an en-suite terrace in the midst of the garrigue and has a very large walk-in shower.

The artistic style of the house goes with some lovely steps and stairs, interesting mezzanines and wrought iron balustrades. This makes the house unsuitable for children under the age of five.

Outside:

In front of the house, the lower terrace leads to a large heated infinity pool (12 x 6 m) nested in a lovely landscaped garden planted with fragrant Mediterranean plants, with low stone walls and stairs.

About the location

Set on a gentle hillside in a protective area, between the small village of Orgon and the delightful village of Eygalieres.The house is surrounded by an immaculately maintained garden which surrounds a large saltwater infinity pool. 

Eygalieres (5 km) is one of the most charming villages in Provence, situated at the foot of the Alpilles, it has two typical cafés and several good restaurants, among which a great one-star Michelin. A stunning small road takes you from Les Passadouires to Eygalières.

Saint Rémy de Provence (15 km) is an artistic small town, the last home of Vincent Van Gogh. It has a lively market every Wednesday where you can find the very best of local products, many nice boutiques in windy streets, several interesting art galleries, numerous cafés and restaurants. Between the house and Saint Rémy, there is a renowned gliding club, riding stables and close by, a beautiful golf course.

Avignon (30 km) is a medieval town which offers outstanding monuments, nice boutiques and great restaurants. This is where the world-renowned theatre festival takes place every year in July, making each night in the city an exciting experience. For the more adventurous, an excellent free-fall club is situated in Pujot, close to the town.

Aix en Provence (50 km) is a lively University town with an exquisite and sophisticated centre, many restaurants of all types and luxury boutiques. A renowned classical music and opera festival takes place every summer attracting the best performers worldwide.

Arles (60 km) is an old Roman town with great character, a very well preserved Roman arena and theatre where performances take place all summer. It is the capital of Camargue.

The Luberon (30 min to 1 hour) is famous for its vegetation and wildlife and for its beautiful typical Provencal villages such as Oppede, Roussillon, Gordes, Ménerbes (A Year in Provence), Lourmarin, ...
