Home description

Les Hirondelles is on the edge of the delightful ochre tinted small village of Flassan lying sheltered on the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux (1909m).  This pretty village has a traditional square with fountain, an excellent general store, acclaimed restaurant and a church.  The houses are within a stone’s thrown of a tennis court and boule terrace.

The backdrop to the village is a glorious view of the mountain with vineyards, cherry orchards, olive groves and fields of lavender.  Throughout the year there is a constant change of colour and scent as the crops blossom and are harvested.  The village is at 400m and in an area known for its clean air and vivid blue skies which make it a paradise for painters.

The properties are south facing, enclosed by a courtyard and the 8m x 4m pool is fenced.  Together the houses are ideal for two families wishing to share a holiday.

The House has been furnished to a high standard and comprises:

• Entrance hall dining room
• Open plan sitting room with TV/video or DVD. CD player.
• Kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and oven with gas hob. Utility room with washing machine and drinks fridge.
• Three double bedrooms, one with a double bed and two with twin beds that can be linked if required. There is a fourth bedroom for a single bed and cot. There is a balcony terrace leading to the garden leading off the main bedroom.
• Two bathrooms (one with bath and one with shower).
• The terrace leads from the sitting room down to the garden, barbeque area and the shade of a plantain mulberry tree – giving wonderful shade for eating out in provence style.
• During this winter we are refurbishing the ground floor, doubling the size of the sitting room, adding a ground floor cloakroom and creating an additonal terrace with summer kitchen.

About the location

The countryside around Flassan is rich with the best of Provence: lively village markets, medieval towns and Roman ruins, vineyards, superb walking and cycling, lavender fields, cherry orchards, olive groves and carpets of herbs. The area offers an almost overwhelming choice of activities for young and old alike.

The surrounding hills have a network of wonderful walking, cycling and horseriding trails. One of the GR (Grand Randonnée) routes passes right through Flassan and then west to the Dentelles de Montmirail and east to the Sault Plateau and the Luberon hills. Mont Ventoux and the neighbouring village of Bedoin are a mecca for cyclists, the Tour de France often passing this way. Our nearest stables are close by, including provision of ponies and equipment for children.

Bedoin is 5 km away and offers many restaurants and cafes and a wonderful provençal market. The area is famed for its wines with the vineyards of Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Seguret and Château Neuf du Pape nearby. Flassan is surrounded by the vineyards of the Cotes du Ventoux and there are many undiscovered treasures of exceptional value. Gorgeous hill top villages invite exploration or you may wish to visit the historic Papal city of Avignon just 40 minutes away.
