Home description

Peacefully situated in a small hamlet in the heart of the Parc Naturel Perigord-Limousin, yet only five minutes from the medieval, walled city of Nontron, you will find a warm welcome at this newly converted barn, 'Les Lilas', where the owners offer B&B, evening meals and stunning views across five valleys.  There is a large,(12m x 6m) pool with beautiful views.

You have a choice of 5 double bedrooms, all with ensuite shower room or bathroom/toilet equipped with hair dryer and toiletries. Every room has tea/coffee making facilities.  Wi-Fi internet connection available.

Sarah loves cooking! Having spent six years running a successful restaurant in France, they have decided that there is nothing nicer than to invite their guests to join them for dinner - in winter, after aperitifs by the log fire, dinner round the big table in the spectacular hall. And in summer, breakfast and dinner can be served on the terrace with a panoramic view. The owners make a point of using local produce from the nearby farms and markets, and like to introduce you to the specialties of the region.

They take a special interest in vegetarians (as Nigel is a veggie himself) with a wealth of interesting recipes and produce from their own garden.

With French windows overlooking a beautiful view, this is a spacious, luxury room with double bed, but could accommodate a family of four with ease and has a ensuite bath and shower room.

About the location

If it's nature that interests you, there is a wealth of bird life and butterflies as well as deer, badgers, wild boar and many other interesting animals. The owners have plenty of reference books for you to identify your sightings.

If you just want to chill out - ignore all that and sit quietly with your book and a glass of wine in the sunshine!

If the purpose of your visit is to find a property for yourselves in this area, then the owners are more than happy to help you in any way they can, with advice regarding estate agents, lawyers, properties available and trips out to get a really good feel for the area. And then, with local artisans, builders, plumbers, electricians, etc. their experiences and lessons (often learnt the hard way) could save you a lot of time and disappointments.

How to get here

The property is 1 hour from Limoges, 1 1/2 hours from Bergerac (both with airports and car hire) and about 40 minutes from Perigueux and Angouleme.
