The Manoir is set around a 'court d'honneur' with 2 acres of gardens and orchards and surrounded by 15 acres of wooded pastures. The house dates from C18 but was extensively remodeled in C19 and has just been completely redecorated.

The house, which is very comfortable and quietly situated, comprises:

Ground floor

• A 40ft paneled salon with seating for 10 people.  The salon has two wood burning fireplaces and retains the original paneling and mirrors.  A door leads from the salon directly onto
• The main courtyard which is designed for al fresco eating and lends a relaxed atmosphere.
• A large and airy kitchen with dining seating for 10 people.
• The artist's studio now the family room with Sky TV, DVD, games

First floor

• The main bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
• Two further bedrooms with double beds, marble fireplaces and antique mirrors.
• Another bedroom with twin beds.
• The childrens bedroom with two bunk beds and plenty of space for playing.
• A large family bathroom recently built.

Second floor

• Very pretty attic bedroom with twin beds

Outdoors

The courtyard leads onto a beautiful garden with many flowering shrubs and fruit trees.  There is an on-site tennis court which has recently been resurfaced.  At the rear of the house there is a very attractive terrace which is very sheltered.

About the location

This part of France, which is so close to England, is famous for its beaches and golf.  However very few know of the enchanting towns and stunning countryside that is to be found just a short distance inland.

In the 1920s and 1930s Le Touquet was one of the most glamorous holiday destinations in Europe, frequented by royalty, the rich and famous. Today this is reflected in the grand hotels, casino, championship golf courses and innumerable restaurants. The huge sandy beaches provide a welcome tranquility. Aside from golf, the visitor can be served at the sailing centre, two equestrian centres and even a sand-sailing school.

The house itself is one mile outside Montreuil, which is an ancient fortified town. Still contained within its enormous walls, the town has hardly been touched for two centuries. Small shops, cafes and restaurants are plentiful and there is an excellent market on Saturday mornings in the main square.

Beyond Montreuil lies the beautiful folding countryside of the 'Seven Valleys' region with its charming small villages and bustling market towns. There are wonderful walks and the rivers provide for fishing as well as some exciting canoeing. For the adventurous, Paris is close enough for a day trip.

How to get here

From Calais take the A16 motorway south, signed to Boulogne. Come off at the Le Touquet exit and take the road signposted to Montreuil.

A car is advisable.
