Looking for your own piece of paradise for a tranquil "get away from it all" holiday? Peace and quiet, complete privacy, fresh air, but plenty to see and do nearby if and when the mood strikes you? Welcome to Maison Le Jubeau!
This rustic yet tastefully decorated self-catering holiday home features all modern amenities, including a private heated swimming pool, yet is located in the midst of idyllic rural farmlands, just several kilometres from the virtual epicentre of France. When you drive in through the private gate, you'll find yourself in a lovely paved courtyard between the large attached barn and a small mill house with an impressive 19th century millstone and press for making walnut oil. The entrance to the house from the courtyard is up a few steps through a charming rose bower that leads onto the large main terrace.
In summer, life happens here, where the glazed conservatory/solarium opens onto the large terrace and pool deck. The 9 x 4.5 m pool is heated with an electric heat pump, providing a constant warm water temperature, and is regularly maintained. The pool area is nicely tiled and, in conformity with French safety law, is completely walled off to prevent small children from gaining access unsupervised. Pool and patio furniture is provided. And did we mention the barbecue?
The heated pool and terrace overlook the large pasture behind the house, which slopes away toward the neighbouring meadowlands and boasts mature nut and fruit trees. There are no neighbouring houses adjoining the property, as it is bordered only by pastures and a working farm. Children love having so much space to roam around in, and parents love the fact that it’s utterly safe for them to do so!
After a day of play, enjoy a glass of rosé on the terrace as you watch the shadows at dusk roll across the fields. On a starry night, take a moonlit dip in the lighted pool and marvel at the shooting stars. Let Maison Le Jubeau work its magic on your holiday.
Holiday Accommodation at Maison Le Jubeau
The house accommodates up to 11 people (or 13 if you count the very comfortable futon sofabed in the solarium) with 3 double bedrooms (2 with en-suite baths), 1 twin bedroom with double and single beds (sleeps 3), and 1 twin room with two single beds (ideal for kids), and the solarium equipped with a very serviceable sofabed sleeping 2. There are a total of 3 full baths and one separate WC. A foldaway bed and baby's cot are also available, as is an antique cradle for infants up to 6-8 months.
Ground floor:
- Kitchen/dining area - with original Volvic stone floor, original beams, a modern Godin cooker burning propane gas and featuring a spacious grill and electric oven, a microwave, a new roomy refrigerator, and a dishwasher (we even supply the detergent!). For those who prefer to cook all electric, we've recently added a second electric cooker and oven as well. The kitchen is so large that it easily accommodates a large table with seating for 10-12! A simple cast-iron candelabra hanging over the table adds to the charm.
- Utility room - (roomy) off the kitchen and houses a Whirlpool washer and dryer (though there is also a clothesline in the pool area), a large separate freezer (helps to cut down on those grocery runs!), and a large tank-type water heater... plenty for numerous hot showers. There’s also a separate WC here.
- Bedroom 1 - a double bedroom with en-suite bath that can make a nice, semi-isolated retreat for any older people in your party.
- Lounge/living room - an attractive room with wood-burning stove and original terracotta tiled floor, equipped with a full-service entertainment centre (CD/DVD player and wide-screen TV with satellite reception of British and other English-language channels). The lounge opens up to the newly constructed:
- Conservatory/Solarium - that in turn leads to the terrace and pool deck, providing wonderful views of the surrounding wood-studded meadows. The solarium has been fitted with curtains so that it can serve as another comfortable private bedroom for two. It has several comfortable chairs and is well stocked with games, should a rainy day require them. The latest addition to Maison Le Jubeau’s many recreational assets is a brand new table football set!
First floor (2nd floor for you Americans!)
- Bedroom 2 - large, comfortable double bedroom, with en-suite bath (pictured)
- Bedroom 3 - large, comfortable double bedroom
- Bedroom 4 - spacious twin bedroom (which sleeps three people as it has 1 single and 1 double bed)
- Bedroom 5 - twin bedroom with two single beds
- Bathroom - large newly renovated with toilet, a two-person tub and spacious shower, double sinks and elegant teak flooring.
- Small office - overlooking the pool and meadows beyond
All bedrooms have ample closet and drawer space.
Outside:
Heated swimming pool (exclusive use) and terrace with patio and pool furniture, picnic table, ping pong table (table tennis), barbecue grill, barns, paved courtyard, a variety of swings and vehicles for small children, gardens, fruit and nut trees, and breathtaking scenic views.

- A discount is offered on certain rentals of more than one week. Please contact the owners for details.
- Rates listed are for the whole house, regardless of the number of people. Utilities, bed and bath linen are all included.
A heating supplement will be added for autumn rentals, as needed. Call for details. - Summer bookings are by the week from Saturday to Saturday. You may check in after 4 pm (16h00) on your arrival day. Checkout is by 10 am (10h00) your departure day.
- If you require an earlier arrival or later checkout time, please discuss with the owners in advance. They will try to accommodate you if it does not inconvenience other guests.
- For longer or shorter (autumn or spring weekend) rental periods, the owners are more than happy to discuss individual prices.
