Large Country House with Pool in Secluded Location Plus Separate Apartment

Set in more than 2 acres of land, "Las Soles" is a spacious country house with a private 13m pool in a panoramic location of the Aveyron Gorge.  Your closest destination for shops and restaurants is within an easy 10 minutes drive along the Aveyron River to the lovely Medieval market village of St-Antonin-Noble-Val.

The house is fully restored and combines traditional style with all modern conveniences. There are oak beams and floor boards throughout the house and a large stone sun terrace outside overlooking the pool. Since the terrace catches the sun all day,  shade is provided by the large stone terrace under a terra cotta roof, where you can relax and dine in any weather day or night.

Above the covered terrace is a full separate apartment with 2 double bedrooms - only rented in conjunction with themain  house.

Holiday Accommodation at Las Soles

Ground Floor

  • Kitchen - large with a centre island, fully-equipped with twin sink, dishwasher, fridge freezer, Smeg oven/hob and micro-wave.
  • Dinning/living room - open plan room with 'formal' lounge covering more than 10m in length. The antique French walnut dining table comfortably seats 10 people and also reverses into a full-size billiard / small pool table. All equipment to play is provided. A fireplace completes the room and comes in handy in the cool months. A CD and iPod/iPhone player is provided.
  • Second living room - from the kitchen down 2 old stone steps, you enter the 'informal' lounge with another sofa (sofa bed) and two chairs with a widescreen TV used for DVDs. A wide selection for all ages is provided.
  • Shower room - up another 2 stone steps is a full shower room/ toilet
  • Laundry room - with a full size washer and dryer.
  • Hall cupboard - contains ironing board and iron.

First Floor

  • Bedroom 1 - is the largest with a double bed and plenty of room to add another single bed and / or baby cot, which can be arranged. There is also a unique storage cupboard and hanging rail for clothes as well as another one for towels, plus a make-up table, bench and mirror.
  • Bedroom 2 - is the master bedroom with a small balcony overlooking the pool. There is a double bed, chest of drawers, make-up table, bench and mirror and separate closet, as well as a chair and table.
  • Bedroom 3 - has a double bed, chest of drawers, towel rail and a separate closet.
  • Luxury family bathroom - with towels rails, storage cupboard and shelves.

All bedrooms have pool views and are equipped with bedside tables, lamps, radio clock and fans.

Apartment

In addition to the main house, there is a large separate apartment with 2 more double bedrooms upstairs from the covered terrace. This will not be rented or occupied during your stay.

If you need more space, the apartment comprises 2 double bedrooms (5 beds), full luxury family bathroom and large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area may be made available upon discussion with the owner. However, cooking is allowed in the main house only.

Outdoors

Free-form shaped swimming pool of 13 x 6 metres just below the sun terrace and protected by a steel balcony, where there are new sun loungers, parasols, a teak table and chairs.

A full sized table tennis is positioned under the covered terrace.  In addition, there is another table and more chairs for staying out of the sun. The barbecue is located here too. This is off the TV Lounge.

Surrounding the pool is a landscaped area with shrubs and flowers and containers of flowers on the upper terrace, all of which are selected to attract butterflies. There is a flat lawned area where you can play boules.

A large storage room next to the lounge has bicycles, boules and badminton equipment and can be used to store the outdoor cushions at night.

Off to the right of the pool is our 2 acre garden and paths – feel free to wander and catch the views down the valley.

About Penne in Tarn, Midi Pyrenees

Situated in both the Tarn and the Tarn and Garonne Departments, the Aveyron Gorge region is one of the "undiscovered" areas of France offering spectacular countryside, medieval bastide villages, castles and towns, bustling markets, friendly people and good food. History buffs will be as delighted as art enthusiasts with nearby Montauban and its Ingres Museum and Medieval Albi with the famous Cathedral of St Cecile and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum.

Las Soles is located approximately 9 kilometers from St Antonin Noble Val in 2 acres facing cliffs rising from the Aveyron River and overlooking corns flields and pear and apple orchards.  Las Soles affords a private and peaceful holiday with all conveniences within easy reach.

St. Antonin is well known for having the best Sunday morning market in the area and shops of local artists and craftsmen.

The Second World War left its mark on this area of France and the memorial at Ornano - not far from Las Soles - is a stark reminder of events from that time. If you have seen the movie "Charlotte Grey" about the French resistance during the Second World War, you will already know St.-Antonin-Noble-Val, which served as the village setting in the movie. If not, you can watch it from our library of DVDs.

Within the house, you will find a collection of tourist information, books and maps for your use while staying at Las Soles. In addition, feel free to read any of the books during your stay. You will find a number of them on Napoleon!

How To Get To Penne in Tarn, South West France

Location of Las Soles: Approximately 1 hour north / north east (90 kilometres) from Toulouse, which is the closest airport. Straight north on the A62 autoroutes to the A20 until Montauban and the first turn-off for St.-Antonin-Noble-Val and follow the D115 past Bruniquel and Penne for about 30 minutes to left turn for Cazals.

Rodez Airport is only about 90 minutes from Las Soles.  Directions will be provided upon request.

If travelling from England by road, Las Soles is approximately 525 miles from Calais on motorways.

Additional price information

All prices are per week. Outside of the high season (July/August), couples /2 people should contact the owners for the possibility of reduced rental rates.

The house is available for rental throughout the year. Any other months of the year may be available upon request and the price will be provided upon application (especially Christmas and New Year).  UK half term holidays and statutory holidays are at the July/August rate.

Please contact the owners for weekly rental rates on the apartment, which is never rented separately from the main house. The apartment can sleep 4-6 people.

Please note that rental is 4pm Saturday to 10am Saturday (Some flexibility may be available)

All rates include bath towels and pool towels per person as well as tea towels and tablecloths.

Baby cots and high chairs are available at no charge with prior arrangement.

The house will be cleaned and bed linen changed weekly.  Additional cleaning can be arranged with prior notice before arrival. The pool and the gardens are maintained on a regular basis.

Upon arrival you will contact the owners local manager, who will provide the key and show you around the house and be available if you have any problems.

The house telephone will be available for incoming calls and outgoing local calls.Charges for any other calls will be deducted from your deposit. The number will be provided upon booking.

Please note that there is mobile and wireless broadband reception at the house.

Smoking is only permitted on the external terraces and grounds.

The owners regret that pets are not permitted in the house.
