Situated in a rural hamlet between the villages of Frayssinet-le-Gelat and Goujounac near the Dordogne and Lot border. The gite has superb views of our 5 acre field and surrounding woodland also fruit and walnut orchards and pretty well stocked gardens. There is a large covered terrace/outside dining area, lawned garden and sunbathing area from which you can relax and enjoy the views.

Accommodation detail

The barn is attached to owners farmhouse but has own rear access. 

Ground floor

Light and airy open plan kitchen/diner, lounge. Ground floor double bedroom. Total living area comprises 50 sq.m and the floor space is covered in cool terracotta tiles.

• Kitchen area - fully fitted with all amenities including: gas hob, oven, microwave, washing machine, fridge, coffee maker, and toaster. Lots of workspace / tops to cook all that wonderful fresh market produce.
• Lounge area - with table and four chairs
• Dining area - comfortably furnished with 2 settees and chair seating 6. There is satellite television, video, cd/radio player.
• Bedroom 1 Double bedroom with en-suite

The first floor is accessed by external stairs.

First floor

• Bedroom 2 - French 19th century style furnished bedroom with antique double bed and antique furniture. En suite shower room with hand basin and WC. Tea/coffee making facilities. French windows lead out onto a small balcony  with views of the rose garden. The bedroom window has extensive views of our 5-acre field, walnut orchard and surrounding woodland.
• Bedroom 3 - this twin bedroom is directly linked to the double bedroom.

Outside:

There is a large rear covered terrace with rustic stone walls and traditional beams.  Rustic style dining table and seating ideal for outside dining whatever the weather (cool in summer). Here you can sit in peace and watch the varied wildlife ,birds of all sizes, butterflies,deer, also you will be amazed at the night sky here the Lot is the least light polluted area in Europe. Bring your binoculars!!

Outdoor games are also provided including badminton, dartboard, swingball, boules, golf driving on our private 5 acre field.

About the location

• 5 minutes walk to “La Poule au Pot” restaurant serving excellent regional cuisine and a la carte menu.
• ½ mile away is the picturesque village of Goujounac, which has a small Hotel/ restaurant and  village store.
• 1 mile away is the village of Frayssinet -le –Gelat  which has a small restaurant producing delicious stone baked pizza and regional cuisine. Le Relais hotel with friendly bar, grocers, bakers, post office and a picturesque lake with boats, pedaloes, fishing.
• The market towns of Prayssac and Cazals are a 10 min drive both have excellent facilities i.e. supermarkets, banks, weekly markets selling fresh regional products, sidewalk cafes where you can relax and watch the world go by .
• 5km away is Les Arques with the Ossip Zadkine museum and La Recreation restaurant as written about by Michael Sanders in his book “From here you can’t see Paris” (a good read if you want to know more about the way of life here).
• The Dordogne valley is 25 minutes, the Lot valley and Vineyards 15 minutes, Cahors 30 minutes, Sarlat 40 minutes.
• This is an ideal location to discover the Chateaux, and Bastide towns of the Dordogne/Lot.
• Stunning Rocamadour, Mediaeval Sarlat and Beynac castle are within an easy and pleasant drive away.
• 10 mins drive to the Cahors vineyards in the beautiful Lot Valley

• Ferry: Dover – Calais  1hr 30. 
• Speedferries: Dover - Boulogne – 45mins
• Eurotunnel: Dover – Calais  35mins
• Flights: Driving time to property from Bordeaux 3hrs, Toulouse 90mins , Bergerac 60mins(new Ryanair flights for 2006 from Liverpool-Bergerac) look out for special offers

• Change over days flexible take advantage of cheaper weekday flights and ferries available 16.00 pm vacate by 10.00 am
• Long Winter lets available prices on request (out of season only). Ideal for house hunting.
• 25% deposit as confirmation of booking, final 4 weeks before arrival . Or payment on arrival in Euros is acceptable.
• All electric / heating /  hot water included.
• A free welcome starter pack is also included i.e. tea, coffee, milk, sugar,  orange juice, bread, bottled water and of course a bottle of the local Cahors red wine.
• The owners will get some shopping for your arrival if you let us know at least 1 week beforehand.
• Baby-sitting service available.
• Final cleaning service and mid week change of bed linen/towels available please ask.
• Discounts available for 1-2 persons, please ask.
