The properties are situated in 10 beautiful acres, terraced with mature trees such as bays and willows which gently lead you down towards the 4 acre lake with its own private beach, complete with sunloungers and hammocks just waitng to be relaxed in. This is where you will hear nothing but the clonking of sheep bells as the gentle flock graze our terraces in the afternoon, the sound of birds singing and perhaps even hearing your own heart beating to the rhythm of this idyllic French Countryside.

About Cahuzac in Aude, Languedoc Roussillon
The little hameau of Cahuzac sits between two of France’s most beautiful and unspoilt regions. The Aude and the Ariege are historically known as Cathar Country where the crusade against the Cathars took place at the beginning of the 13th century.
Here you will find a most varied and impressive landscape. From the wild and dramatic mountainous peaks of the Pyrenees, to the gentle rolling foothills and flat plains of the Lauragais.
Sunflowers, cereal crops and vineyards flourish under big open skies. The climate in the Aude is well known for having over 300 days sunshine a year !
The Aude is part of the Langudoc Rousillion which is the biggest wine growing area in France – this is where you can sample the local wines. Cabardes, Clappe, Corbiers, Fitou, Malapere, Minervois, Muscat and the most impressive Blanquette de Limoux the regions very own sparkling champagne.
From almost every viewpoint there is an ancient story to be told of Castles, Abbeys and ruins full of history.
Medieval towns and villages sit on hillsides and grand cathedrals adorn the sun kissed market squares. Open air cafes, traditional street markets and shuttered houses create an ambience typical to this part of Southern France.
The local Cassoulet is a bean, duck and pork casserole made in Castlenaudary. The gourmet rich Foie Gras literally means fat liver has its regional capital in local Belpech. Specialities include pigeon, garlic soup, truffles, wild boar and aligot sold at local markets and akin to mashed potato full of wonderful pungent garlic – delicious !
Let’s not forget the irresistible boulangeries and fromageries where to walk past and not feel hungry is almost impossible,
Nuts, figs, apricots, peaches and cherries as big and bright as huge marbles hang from heavily laden boughs, wild strawberries grow among the banks on slow country roads. The whole area is full of things for you to discover.
All this and Spain and Andorra are just two hours away, just think of it, you can go to a different country just for lunch.
Come along, relax and have a great holiday at Bordebasse du Lac.
