Home description

The property lies within the famous golden triangle of Calvados called "The garden of the coast", because of its valleys and pockets of beauty, and its spectacular views. "Belle Vue" is a beautiful, stylish and detached house and combines the best of English comfort and French design. It has been adapted thoughtfully to make life easy and enjoyable and has very good facilities.

The surroundings are strikingly beautiful, especially when the sun sets on the horizon, on a small lake and the magnificent valley. The property  is situated in an acre of grounds including an enclosed and maintained garden, a wooded copse and a fun big wild life meadow with pathways. It is truly a paradise for children where they are safe. So, sorry - No pets.

It is a very relaxing place situated between the big towns of Pont L'Eveque and Lisieux, which are about 10mn away. Hidden away, yet only a stroll from the very picturesque and preserved village of "Blangy le Chateau", which offers beauty and peace and a nostalgic feeling of the past, but also the energy and liveliness of today's Normandy. It has all the facilities of modern life including smart shops, cafes and restaurants, a tiny weekly market. Its people have kept the simplicity and traditions of yesterday. They are very friendly and welcoming and the village's pace is tranquil. A return to the source for the  lovers of nature and authenticity.

Golden beaches are stretching for 75 miles along the beautiful coast of  "La Cote Fleurie", which is just 25mn away.  As the climate is maritime and quite warm in the summer, one can sunbathe and totally chill out in that small private oasis. It is ideally situated for touring and has a great variety of activities close by all year round.

Springtime, with its outburst of “Apple blossom” all over the county, is delightful and the autumn, with its rust and gold colours over the valley, is an enchantment. Wintertime is magic, with its different beauty outside and its log roaring fire inside and a warm, sophisticated, electric central heating. The village and area stay alive during the winter.

Belle View is the most wonderful place to stay. We love it so much, we have returned three times. The view from the lovely garden is stunning and it is very peaceful, yet within a few minutes of the town. We have many happy memories of our holidays here and would thoroughly recommend Belle View. A great big thank you for one of the most relaxing holidays we have ever had!  Blangy is a lovely place nestled among the hills. The house itself is in the most peaceful location. We have had a very nice break. The weather was kind to us, some mist in the mornings but sunny and warm when it cleared. Loved the village and the proximity to the coastal towns.  (And the golf courses of which we played 3). Eric

We really enjoyed staying in your lovely house. We toured around (some of the villages you suggested were very lovely), the D-Day beaches etc. Normandy was beautiful with all the trees in bloom. Played tennis every day and my sons were attracted to the lake to do some serious fishing. Derk

All the rooms are extremely comfortable and stylishly decorated. There is double glazing throughout the house. There are very big fitted cupboards and wardrobes all over the house.

• Fitted kitchen/sitting/dining room - blue/white kitchen with large open area with 4 French windows leading onto the garden. White/pine furniture and cane armchairs and sofa. Long dining table sitting 8 people. Coffee table and a little card/chess table. L shape leather sofa and a wonderful wood burner.
• Bedroom 1 - spacious main bedroom  with a king size bed and a French window and fitted wardrobe plus 2 cane armchairs and bedside tables and halogen light
• Bedroom 2 - cosy and exquisite room with a double bed
• Bedroom 3 - with solid pine bunk beds for 2 children, not suitable for big adults
• Games/reading room - Open small room, with a little sofa and halogen light, situated between bedroom 2 and 3
• Bathroom - spacious with wash basin, bath/shower facilities and a bidet and heated towel rails
• Separate toilet - with 2nd small wash basin
• Heating - Brand new "Electric Central Heating" system. There is also a beautiful and original wood burner in the sitting room and a big heated towel rails in the bathroom. Constant hot water

Outside:

Black large cast iron oval table and 4 comfortable armchairs with raspberry cushions and a matching parasol . PVC sun loungers and deck chairs, a PVC bench and a built in barbecue. There is ample parking space and room to play "La petanque", on the gravel.

About the location

Belle Vue is found at  "Blangy Le Chateau" which is a very charming, well known and sought after village. It is lived in, so alive during all the seasons. It has two free drinking fountains from a natural source, Two cafes/ restaurants, a baker, a butcher-greengrocer, a delicatessen, a chemist, a post office, a library, a Tourist Board, a free tennis court and much more...

The half-timbered houses, dating from the 17th century, give the old Blangy its beauty. The pretty church, which is full each Sunday morning, gives a sense of a peacefull feeling from the past. The atmosphere is relaxed and serene but also buzzing during the whole summer when Blangy has some very interesting events. The area has fetes and festivals all year round.

Thursday morning market - tiny, but delightful, (all year) is a joy and in the afternoon (from June to October) some rambling tours are organised to view the most beautiful spot or place of interest or visit an artisan - An afternoon tea is served - each Friday morning there is an English guided tour (July/August).

The countryside is full of stunning pretty villages with historical interest. Equestrian centre and Pony club provide real joy and the famous Golf course of Barriere de St Julian is a must for golfers. They are good fishing spots on the lake of Pont L'Eveque. The hinterland countryside is a celebration of beauty: orchards and blooming apple trees, forests and the Swiss Normande with its contrasting steep rocks faces. (15 miles from the South of Caen). Country lanes for walking and peaceful roads are plentiful and ideal for cycling.

The coastline of endless of long and wide golden sandy beaches is just 20kms away. It has big smart resorts, fishing villages or quaint small seaside places. Along the coast there is a magnificent architecture, splendid hotels and villas, marinas, sailing centre. Casino, night life. It offers a great variety of divertissement.

Normandie-Challenge.com is an incredible Nautical/sport centre/ in a Leisure Park, with a private beach on the magnificent and immense lake of Pont-L'Eveque. There is a restaurant and they have also theme parties in a marquis in the summer. Only 8mn from the house by car. They now run the Camping site, in the village and offers Free Access to Canoe for local river use, Carp Fishing (No kill) and Renting of Mountains bikes. They have a lovely "Auberge Rustique" type restaurant open at the week-end all year round and during the week as well from April to October

Famous Places

Pont l'Eveque - Place of origin for the famous cheese! Delightful charming old town with its musical Country market every Sunday morning during Easter/Whit-Sunday and in July/August normal market each Monday (all year round) 10kms - 10mns. Try "Les Tonneaux" or "The Barrels" restaurant, where one can sit  in the original barrels where Cognac used to mature and eat delicious food.

Lisieux - With its famous Basilica, its pedestrian streets (a shopper paradise!), smart tearooms -2nd most visited shrine after Lourdes- 12kms

Deauville/Trouville - Very chic beautiful resorts with breathtaking beaches, 20kms-20mn. In September "rub shoulders" with the big stars during the American Film Festival

Caen - Old and young fascinating historical university town. There are a castle, 2 abbeys, links with William the Conqueror, fine Art museum, a famous Botanical garden and the Memorial Peace museum

Bayeux - A charming and old lively town, with small streets and hidden private villas, a beautiful cathedral and a very busy High Street. In July there is the Medieval Festival with people in costumes, music and street parties. The tapestry of the Queen Mathilda attracts visitors from all over the world.

Honfleur - Old original fishing village and still a famous place for painters. One of the most and pretty place visited in France.

Disneyland Paris 02h15 including 02h09 on motorways from "Belle Vue" (236kms).  All routes details available from the owner.
