Beautiful apartment, finished in 2007 and set within the walls of an art deco wine cave, furnished and fitted to a high standard. The apartment is on the first floor and has a lift both to the ground floor and also to the private and secure car park.  There is a large terrace with lovely views and although only a stone's throw from the portside, is in a very quiet position.

Port Vendres is a charming town on the Cote Vermeille, just beside Collioure, with all amenities including a range of supermarkets, banks, pharmacy and some excellent restaurants in which to sample the daily catch brought in each day by the local fishermen.

Apartment on the first floor comprises:

• Entrance hall - with cloakroom with WC and washbasin. 
• Kitchen / dining / living room - open plan living space with solid wood fitted kitchen, well equipped and includes washing machine, fridge and microwave and electric oven and hob. Dining table and chairs, sofabed/chaise longue (sleeps 2) flat screened TV (french) with DVD player.  Library of English/French books.
• Double bedroom - with double bed, side lights, and storage units. Large ensuite bathroom with bath, shower over, WC  and wash basin. 

Balcony 

Patio doors lead to  large terrace with table and chairs. There are lovely views over the hills and down to the street below.

About the location

Port Vendres is a major port on the Cote Vermeille and has a long and varied history dating back to Roman times and is beloved by artists as is its close neighbour Collioure.

It has a large fresh fish market and in addition the fishermen still sell their catch from little stalls at the port side. On Saturday there is a colourful market on the Place d'Obelisque and a Sunday market at Collioure (five minutes by car, 20 minutes on foot,)

Port Vendres has its little coves for swimming with super blue flag sandy beaches a short distance away.

The apartment is situated in a newly renovated art deco wine cave and although one minute from the waterfront is situated in a quiet position. There are several  excellent restaurants close by.  The border with Spain is about 20k and the coast road is truly wonderful with views over the Mediterrean.

Perpignan - (20 minutes drive) is the capital of the region,  and has a distinctive culture, a Spanish feel to it with Catalan spoken and many musical and artistic festivals all year round.

Collioure - is a centre for artists and the stunning light and views make the area a mecca for both photography and painting. It is home to the Fauvist movement in art and beloved by artists, including Picasso whom lived and worked there.

Salvadore Dali Museums - just over the border in Spain

Barcelona - any easy day out by car.

Andorra - drive up through the high Pyrenees to visit the tiny principality with a range of duty free goods at prices that will astound you.

Tautavel - see the prehistoric man reputed to be the oldest man in Europe.

Carcassonne - Medieval walled city.

Easy drive to ski slopes.

How to get here

Air travel:
Many airlines are now offering discounted fares to the region including flights from East Midlands, Birmingham, Southampton, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Bristol, Dublin, Stansted and Gatwick.  There are daily flights to Perpignan via Ryanair and to Girona (Spain) less than one hour.  There are also flights to Montpelier, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Barcelona. 

Car hire:
Is available at all these airports.  In addition there are train services to Port Vendres (train from London Waterloo to Lille or Paris, connection to Perpignan and then train to Port Vendres).
