Portail Vieux is a beautiful and very comfortable provençale house which stands imposingly at the old entrance to Mormoiron village in Provence. It has wonderful views of Mont Ventoux and the surrounding vineyards.The house makes an ideal and peaceful base from which to tour Provence and the vineyards of the Rhône Valley, down to the Mediterranean coast.

Outside

The garden has a 60 sq. metre swimming pool and surrounding paved area with wooden table and chairs, sun loungers and parasols. This is a totally private and enclosed 460 sq. metre area.

A door leads from the kitchen onto a delightful 140 sq. metre terrace with a Chinese Mulberry tree giving shade for outside eating. On the terrace there are garden tables and chairs, gas barbecue, deck chairs and swing seat.

The house has an impressive main entrance.

The accommodation comprises:

• Ground floor/entrance hall area
• Large bedroom with twin beds and ensuite bathroom with bath and shower attachment, w.c. and handbasin.

From the hall, the main staircase leads up to:

• Spacious sitting room/dining room with fireplace. This is furnished with two large comfortable sofas, coffee table, large dining table and chairs and two buffets.
• Large farmhouse style fully fitted kitchen has a large cooker with 2 ovens and gas burners, a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, 2 refrigerators with freezers, dining table and benches.
• Second living room with two large sofas, TV and video and a mezzanine with table and chairs for games etc.
• Lobby and changing area for the pool with separate shower, w.c. and handbasin.

Second and third floors

• Large double bedroom
• Large double bedroom with door onto balcony overlooking kitchen terrace
• Large bathroom with bath, separate shower, w.c., bidet and two handbasins
• Single bedroom

About the location

The house is in the quiet village of Mormoiron, which has three restaurants and several shops.  There are markets in most of the villages and towns nearby. Carpentras is the nearest town.  Many historic towns such as Orange, Nimes, Arles, Aix en Provence are within easy driving distance for a day's outing.  The coast is 2 hours away.

The ancient city of Avignon with its new TGV station is a 40 minute drive to the west.  The house is ideal for family reunions.

How to get here

Local airports are Avignon, Nimes, Marseille and Montpellier.  For rail travel the nearest station is the TGV station in Avignon.  Ask owner for directions to the house.
