Lovely Villa with Pool and Views

Chez Gecko is situated on the outskirts of the typically French village of Montreal. The villa benefits from uninterrupted views of the Black Mountains and the area is one of natural beauty, from plane tree lined roads, to sunflower, poppy and lavender fields.

The village of Montreal is a 5-minute walk where you will find bakeries, a butcher, pharmacy, post office and a bank with a cash machine. There is also a supermarket open on Sunday morning. The village is also home to a typical café and restaurant. Petenque can be seen being played in the small park area in the heart of the village.

Holiday Accommodation at Chez Gecko

• Two double bedrooms - en-suite bathroom to master bedroom, bath, double hand basins and typically French, no toilet in this room
• Twin room (2 beds).
• Separate shower room.
• Separate WC.
• Sitting room comfortably furnished with sofas, coffee tables, DVD, CD and Satellite TV (British freeview programmes available), with doors leading to a sun terrace, with bistro style furniture an ideal area for a drink or reading.
• Dining area with table/chairs to seat 6 with doors leading to the terrace with stunning views of the mountains, garden and pool.
• Kitchen fully equipped with fridge, hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster etc.
• Utility room with washing machine, fridge, iron and ironing board.

The villa benefits from oil fired central heating. A cot, high chair, buggy and toddler toys are available on request.

Outside

NB. The garden is on various levels accessed by steps and this may not be suitable for some people.

Leading from the Dining area is a large terrace with fenced grass area safe for children to play. This is equipped with a large table, chairs, umbrella and gas BBQ. The middle terrace is furnished with table and chairs, charcoal BBQ and steamers, the perfect place for a spot of lunch overlooking the pool or a glass of the local wine as the sun sets. There are further steps leading to the pool. The terrace slopes have recently been landscaped.

The pool is 9.5 x 4.5m and ranges from 1-1.8m in depth with built in steps. Additionally the pool is UV treated therefore no harsh chemicals to contend with. It also benefits from being heated and really is a private pool with a view.

All the garden furniture has been imported from Bali.

Our own bikes are available for use by prior arrangement.

About Montreal in Aude, Languedoc Roussillon

The town of Carcassonne is a 20 minute drive and La Cite, the largest fortified fortress in Europe, a magical place to visit and rumour has it this is the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's castle [UNESCO site].

Cathar country to the south has many historical fortresses and ruins to visit. The beaches of the Mediterranean are less than an hours drive to the east.

Circular villages are a feature of the area. The Canal du Midi [UNESCO site] is accessed at Bram a 10 minute drive, here you are able to walk/jog or cycle along the tow path.

The Pyrenees are an hours drive and slightly further on is the Principality of Andora.
