Location Location!

This lovely 6 bedroom country  home is a perfect place, to base yourself  in the very heart of the Haute Pyrenees, nestling  in a timelessly  peaceful,valley  of pasture and  woodland.
Catch your breath  with clean fresh mountain air as you feast your eyes on the spectacular panoramic vistas, all around you.

The house is very well equipped and  has  everything you need for any season ,  warm and comfortable in winter, a sun trap in spring and autumn  with the large south west facing veranda and possibly the best place to be in hot high summer in France with the the cool mountain airflow.

This place is heavenly!  And yet… just 10 minutes descent, you will find you 2 large  supermarkets and  an 18 hole golf course dominated by the Pic du Midi.

A further 5 mins drive, brings you into the lively biseasonal,  Romanesque, Thermal spa town, Bagneres du Bigorre.  Pamper yourself in the fabulous  “Le grand Thermes“and Aquensis Thermal Spa, very popular with visitors from all over France! Lourdes and Tarbes less than 20mins drive.

And in Winter

125 kilometers of interconnecting ski runs!  La-Mongie  -Tormelet - Bareges,  just 30 mins drive to La Mongie. Visit the  Pic du Midi, europes largest observatory, by cable, from  La Mongie, (On a clear day you can view a tenth of france!)  Visit the many other ski villages… the lovely old ski town of Cauterets,  lovely all year round.  Many other ski stations  all around 40 mins drive (see below).   The Pyrenees recorded record snowfalls over the last 3 years!

Accommodation detail

The house is in a stunning position in the hills above Bagneres de Bigorre, with a completely enclosed garden. It has full central heating and is fully insulated, fully tiled or carpeted throughout and tastefully decorated, with large veranda along the south wall for lounging and dining.

The house comprises 3 floors and garage. Parking for 5 cars, indoor table tennis, boiler/laundry room. There is an area for winter ski equipment and stairs to the front entrance.

Front door and landing stairs to landing on first floor

• Bedroom 1: double with king size bed fitted wardrobes, carpeted with French doors to glazed verandah.
• Bedroom 2: with double bed, fitted wardrobe, carpeted.
• Large oak beamed living room: huge lovely log fire, oak/brick fireplace, comfortable sofas and chairs, stereo, CD player, satellite TV, fitted furniture and books/games.
• Fully fitted kitchen: dishwasher, hob, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, chest freezer, dryer room
• Dining area with: French doors to glazed veranda
• Fully tiled bathroom: with cast iron bath, walk in shower with multi jet massage and overhead shower, bidet double basin vanity unit with mirrors, lighting, shaver socket and bathroom accessories.
• Separate fully tiled cloakroom: with toilet and hand basin.
• Laundry room: with ironing board, iron, laundry baskets etc.

Second Floor

• Pine clad galleried carpeted hall and landing
• Bedrooms 3 & 4: are a family suite, fully carpeted with double bed, fitted wardrobe, French doors leading to Bigourdane style, walk-out, covered veranda.  Adjoining room, with cot.  Ensuite shower room & WC. 
• Bedroom 5: fully carpeted fitted wardrobe 1 single bed.
• Bedroom 6: twin bedded, fitted wardrobe, carpeted with French doors and juliet balcony.
• Large shower room: fully tiled with walk in shower, bidet, double basins toilet and accessories.

The Garden

Plunge pool, table tennis, darts, large garage and parking for 4 / 5 cars, enclosed attractive drive in and gardens with  lovely views of the mountains and valleys and  the snow topped (or snow covered) mountains including  views of Pic du Midi and Tarbes / Lourdes.
 
Wooden garden tables  & seats, barbecue and sunbeds.

Just 5 more minutes drive finds you in the Romanesque thermal town Bagneres de Bigorre, located between the Pic du Midi, the mythical passes of Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet. It has all the services of a city whilst preserving the charm and characteristics of village life - casino, cinema, museums, exhibitions, lively markets and nightlife.

How to get here

Airports

From the end of 2008 Ryanair have announced new cheap flights direct to Lourdes/Tarbes Airport. Lourdes is only 18 Kms from the property. English speaking taxi driver available to collect you if required.

Also, Pau 1hr Ryanair. Toulouse International 1hr 45mins. BA Easyjet Flybe all offer very cheap fares.

Drive

Paris 700kms A64 exit 14 19kms to house

Ferry

P&O Ferries Portsmouth/Bilbao 30hours sailing run 2 or 3 per week arriving early morning, with just 3 hrs drive, to house. The ferry departs at midday , so an 8.30am depart from house  will get you there in time) the regular ferry schedule, begins in March.

Atlantic coast (Biarritz) 2hrs.
