This traditional stone built 17th century “Maison de Maître” lies in the heart of a small rural village.  Restored with every effort to reveal its natural charm and equipped with quality to a high level of comfort, you’ll appreciate its very real French authenticity, its spaciousness, its private terrace and the wonderful oasis of the garden and swimming pool that is shared with the owner which overlooks the Aude Valley and the breathtaking range of the Pyrenées.

Ground Floor:

• Fully equipped kitchen/dining room - which leads on to the sitting room. Satellite TV, mini CD/cassette player.
• Sitting room - opening onto the terrace
• Utility room - which contains a dishwasher, washing machine and also gives access to the terrace.
• Toilet.
• Cot/high chair available

First Floor:

• A wooden stairway - from the ground floor leads upstairs to a landing/reading room with toy corner. Sofa bed for an extra guest
• Master bedroom - with double bed.
• Two adjoining twin bedrooms. 
• Large bathroom - with a bath, shower, double sinks and a WC.

Outside:

• Private closed terrace - with garden furniture and a barbecue.
• Pool and large garden shared with owner
• There is parking in front of the house.

The house is especially suitable for toddlers, being safe (easy wide stairs and closed terrace), and having a family sized bathroom.  The garden and pool are separate from the terrace, an added safety and tranquility for parents with children not yet able to swim, although they will require your attention around the pool and in the garden.  The opportunity to babysit will be welcomed by our bilingual teenage daughters!

Linen hire is included in the prices, also included is a cleaning service upon your departure.  Cleaning during your stay can be organised upon request.

About the location

Situated in the Aude Valley at the foothills of the ‘Montagne Noir’, the village of Carlipa (population 200) is a 20 minute drive from Carcassonne airport (or 1 hour from Toulouse) and is close to numerous mountain lakes and woodlands. The village has a bakery with a small shop and café and the small town of Bram (10 minutes) provides you with a supermaket/doctors/station etc. For fresh produce the Monday morning market in the medieval market square at Mirepoix, surrounded by café terraces, is a great way to start your holiday by mixing shopping with pleasure.

The mediteranean coast is just over an hours drive, great for a day trip, and you might want to visit the wonderful African Safari Park on the coast at Sigean while you're there: a fabulous day out for small children that would love to see giraffes, bears, elephants, zebras and much more.  

 

The house has been decorated with soft pastel colours, with many of the original features restored; marble fireplace, old wooden doors and terracotta tiles throughout the 1st floor. The thick walls help keep the house cool on the hottest summer day, but sun lovers will appreciate their own very private terrace (in the style of an interior courtyard) equipped with garden furniture and a barbecue, to benefit from the sunny south facing position, relax and enjoy eating outside.  A short walk leads you to the garden (1400m²), an oasis of greenery thanks to the ancient stone source well, and a refreshing swim in the pool. Whether you want to watch the children splash around from the pool terrace, have a pool-side barbeque, play table-tennis, badminton or kick a ball around – the garden is a paradise for everyone and the view across the valley to the Pyrenees simply breathtaking.

Car - Autoroute - exit Bram (A16) - 10 mins
