Les Coquelicots is a detached one bed-roomed cottage in the heart of the Normandy countryside yet within 5 minutes of the local village of Gathemo. Gathemo is 10kms south of Vire and has a bar/general store and a boulangerie. Vire itself has a large variety of shops together with 3 national supermarkets for your bigger shopping and of course the wine to take home. Much cheaper here than at the ferryports!

Local to the cottage there is Lake Dathee (5 minutes drive), which has boating, fishing and walking facilities and adjacent to the lake is a pretty 9 hole golf course; Sourdeval (10 minutes), for the weekly market and more local shopping; Mont St Michel (50 minutes); the National Stud at St.Lo (40 minutes); and Bayeux (50 minutes) for the tapestry, cathedral and more shops and restaurants. The D-day beaches are all within an hour's drive and the beaches at the bay of Mont St. Michel are within 45 minutes drive.

The accommodation comprises:

• Large lounge/dining room with 2 leather settees, dining table and chairs and English satellite TV.
• Separate fully fitted kitchen leading from lounge with gas hob, programmable electric oven, cooker hood, microwave oven, fridge, toaster and washing machine

Upstairs

• Large bedroom with exposed beams and furnished with traditional French furniture and an en-suite facility with WC, vanity unit and shower.

Available facilities:

On the landing there is a large cupboard for hanging clothes and another containing two fold-up single beds, ironing board and iron.

Drying facilities can be made available in the owners' home which is adjacent to the cottage.

Whilst the owners will not wish to be intrusive they will be available for any help or advice.

Outside:

Outside there is a garden table, umbrella and chairs specific to the cottage but the owners would wish guests to make and have full use of their own large garden and all its furniture and facilities.

Included in the price of the accommodation is all gas, electricity, water, bedding and towels, (you will only have to provide your own beach towels). There will also be supply of bread, butter, milk, coffee and tea on your arrival.

The accommodation is available all year and short breaks of 2 days or more are available at the daily rate. Similarly if you are looking for property in France or are waiting for a completion date the owners are prepared to make special arrangements on request.

About the location

We are located approx 1km from the village of Gathemo at the end of a quiet lane. There is no passing traffic. The local town of Sourdeval is approx 8km distance and the much larger town of Vire 11km.

There are plenty of shopping and eating facilities in Vire and Sourdeval offers more local food shopping. Within 15 minutes drive of the property there are several very good restaurants. Markets are held on Tuesdays in Sourdeval, Wednesdays in St Hilaire, (30 minutes drive), and Vire on Fridays.

The drive to the nearest beach will take approx 45 minutes door to beach.
