Totally renovated and furnished with very comfortable pieces, this quaint home is built on 3 floors and is situated in the heart of St Cirq Lapopie. Push the gate and the first garden welcomes you. Lovely rose bushes and lavender plants grow in this little area furnished with garden table and chairs. The impressive views over the village's most splendid houses and church make this green corner the most pleasant and enjoyable one at all times, specially for dining. Below the beautiful wisteria, open the door to the:

• Spacious kitchen-dining area. The fully equipped kitchen has a table and chairs, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and cooker. Its direct access to the garden adds a very special atmosphere to this gorgeous room.
• Separate laundry area and WC

First floor

• Living room with cornered fireplace. Furnished with a large sofa and chaise long, it is a comfortable and most enjoyable room. Books, magazine, CD player and television are available for your entertainment. In the fall and winter by making a fire, further charm is added.

• Large bedroom, furnished with a bed, chest of draws, armchair and hanging spaces.

A large timber door opens in the living room to the second garden where few stone steps lead you up to more green grass and a beautiful kitchen garden. The owner, for guests to enjoy plants basil, parsley, red peppers, tomatoes, courgettes, eggplants and various other vegetables every year. Pick up and start cooking fresh home grown produces.

About the location

The Lot, rich in its diversity of landscapes and architecture, offer authentic values, amazing nature, knowledge and beauty. Whatever the season, a short or long break, there will never be a lack of activities waiting to be discovered.

As well as the scenery, the region is famously know for its food, in particular the Cabecou made from soft and light unpasteurized goat milk.

The Lot winds its way through the wine area extending from the town of Cahors 40 kilometers to the west, covering an area of 3,500 hectares. In addition to vineyards in the valley and on the hillsides, vines have been planted on the rocky Causse (high, chalky plateau). The deep-red wine from the area around Cahors was once numbered among France's most famous growths. Full-bodied wines have been pressed here since the 7th century.

One of the main and most interesting activities of the week is to visit the local markets. Around St Cirq Lapopie (including St Cirq on Wednesday morning in the summer) and the Chateau de Couanac, villages will have weekly markets. Some of the best known are on Sunday in the villages of Limogne, Concots , St Antonin Noble Val and Montcuq. On Monday in the small town of Caussade, Thursday in Villefranche de Rouergue and Saturdays in Cahors.

As well, the villages nearby will have most of the convenient food stores, baker, bank, post office, tourism office, chemist and doctors.

Cahors, the capital of the Lot, with its medieval quarter, is densely packed with old four-storey houses, linked by streets and alleyways so narrow you can almost touch both walls. It has a rich history and is a very pleasant place to enjoy and venture through. Among a choice of beautiful buildings, not to be missed, is the Cathedral St-Etienne. Consecrated in 1119 it is crowned with two 18 m-wide cupolas (the largest in France) and the fortified medieval bridge called Le Pont Valentre, more commonly known as the 'Devil's Bridge' (one of France's finest).

Going east following the spectacular Lot or Cele River, Figeac has a picturesque old quarter, with many houses dating from the 12th to 18th centuries. The town is not only known for its beauty but also because of JF Champollion, who unraveled the mysteries of Egyptian hieroglyphics, was born there in 1790.

The main airports are Toulouse and Rodez, over an hour's drive away. Car hire is available at the airports.
