Home description

We offer two holiday cottages which have been renovated to the highest standard. Crech Mordo is situated in 3 acres of private grounds amid the tranquil countryside of the Cote D’Armor region of Brittany, 16km from the Pink Granite Coast.   The area has an abundance of wildlife, deer, hares, foxes’ and numerous different species of birds of prey, to name but a few, and is also very popular with year round visitors for walking and biking holidays. You are able to explore miles of signposted coastal and inland walkways and cycle paths, through woods and along the rivers and estuaries. Fishing, (river and estuary), is available and licences can be obtained at your local bar tabac for a few euros.

The cottages are situated in a large courtyard with ample parking and have south facing terraces with extensive gardens and woodland area. Both cottages have wood burning stoves and  electric heating. Between October and May the first 50 units of electric are included in the rental price, afterwards by meter reading. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided. A child’s cot and small bed are available on request

Two adult bicycles and bike rack are available on request.

The Cottage has broadband internet connection.

Ground Floor:

• Spacious kitchen/dinning area – Open plan with triple patio doors opening on to private south facing terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker,washing machine, fridge/freezer, toaster, electric kettle and coffee maker. Triple patio doors giving  access to balcony and courtyard.
• Lounge with original granite fireplace, wood burner and beamed ceilings. There is a sofa bed, English/French television and CD/radio/cassette player.

First Floor:

• Spacious dual aspect double bedroom fuly furnished with south and north views over countryside
• Large bathroom with bath/shower

Outside:

Private south facing patio with garden furniture and barbeque provided. 

About the location

We are perfectly situated only 1.5 kilometres from the picturesque river port town of Pontrieux, (Petite Cite de Caractere), which straddles the River Trieux at its highest navigable point. A short walk from the port, many half timbered and dressed stone houses, (some dating back to the 16th century), surround its two triangular squares. The town offers a wide range of restaurants and general facilities with a regular train service to the town of Guingamp and along the estuary to the coastal port of Paimpol, renowned for its excellent fish restaurants and Tuesday market. In the summer there are steam train excursions, and nearby is the beautiful Chateau de la Roche Jagu, with its extensive gardens overlooking the River Trieux. The historic cathedral town of Treguier with its popular Wednesday market is only 15 minutes drive.

You are able to take a boat to visit the beautiful  pedestrian Isle De Brehet, which because of its micro -climate ,offers a breathtaking display of flowers and fauna.   Whether by foot or bicycle, the island is a joy to explore.

Crech Mordo is perfectly placed to enable you to visit both the Pink Granite Coast, with its beautiful islands and rock formations and the Coast of Goelo, with its lively seaside resorts of  Binic and St -Quay-Portrieux, with numerous water activities, from sailing to pedal boats. Both coastlines offer beautiful sandy beaches and safe bathing.
