This spacious 18th Century cottage is situated in a fabulous position on the spur of a hill at the edge of a tiny hamlet of traditional Correzienne farm houses and stone barns. There are far reaching views over valleys and wooded hillsides. A beautiful and tranquil spot in which you can relax and enjoy unspoilt nature with a taste of rural French life. La Vidisse is conveniently placed between Tulle, the capital of the Correze and the ancient river port of Argentat sur Dordogne with its wonderfully preserved quay side and stone roofed houses.

The Correze is steeped in history and boasts six of the ‘most beautiful villages in France’. The rivers, lakes, gorges and waterfalls within the varied landscape offer a marvellous range of outdoor activities.

Accommodation detail

The cottage is well furnished and decorated and has a cosy and comfortable feel to it. It is furnished and equipped to a high standard throughout.

At the back of the house is a covered terrace with lovely views over the pool and garden and across a wooded valley. From the terrace a door opens into:

Ground floor

• Country style kitchen - this is furnished with pine dressers, fitted cupboards, a table and six chairs, dishwasher, larder fridge and cooking range. The kitchen opens into the Salon.
• Large beamed salon - with arm chairs and sofas facing a granite stone inglenook fireplace and in the dining area is a table with six chairs. French doors open onto the front garden with views down the valley to the nearby village.
• Vestibule - to one side of the salon is a small vestibule with French windows opening on to a side terrace and the barbecue area.
• Shower room / wc - opening from the vestibule.

Oak stairs rise from the salon to the first floor.

First floor

• TV room on the landing with TV, video player and DVD player, an arm chair and a settee. Off this room are:
• Two double bedrooms, one with shower room/WC that overlooks the large rear garden and the other with French windows opening onto a roof terrace with seats to enjoy the great views.

Lower ground floor

• Split-level twin bedroom, with seating area and French windows to the exterior.
• Shower room and W.C. to the rear.

Outside

The established gardens of approx one acre surround the house with flower beds and mature trees; there is a further natural wooded area extending down the valley of approx 15 acres. A sunny aspect is enjoyed from early morning to late evening.

About the location

Local Amenities

The nearest baker is in the village of Forges only 4kms. There is an alimentation, a restaurant, good quality butcher and a post office in the village. The baker's van from Forges visits La Vidisse on Tuesdays and Fridays; witha traveling mini-marche on Thursdays. Our French neighbours use them! A good range of supermarkets and shops can be found in Tulle and Argentat. Traditional markets are held in both towns and further along the river Correze lies the thriving town of Brive la Giallarde, which has a very good Saturday market. These local markets are famous for the wonderful fresh produce they offer direct from local farms.

Eating out in the many restaurants is a real pleasure as the Correziens take their food seriously. The regional salads are meals in themselves with duck, foie gras, walnuts, wild mushrooms and chestnuts. The fresh fish from the local rivers is also a feature on the menus.

How to get here

Nearest airport Limoges. Nearest city Tulle. The route from Tulle D1120 {was the N120} signed to Argentat follow for approx 12 km turn left for St Sylvain 2 km just before the village of Forges. La Vidisse is 2 km from St Sylvain on the St Paul road.
