Our large comfortable chalet and spacious garden apartment is set in the charming alpine village of Cordon, close to Megeve.

From our elevated position a short walk from the village centre you will enjoy unequalled magnificent uninterrupted panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Alps and the Chamonix valley.

It is a perfect location for spring, summer, magical winter and skiing holidays. A paradise for walkers and for exploring and relaxing in this beautiful region. There are endless places of interest to visit and activities for both young and old including cable cars, mountain railways, summer toboggans and numerous sporting activities.

The village of Cordon is an unspoilt Savoyard village (dating back to 1730) with wonderful alpine scenery. It has small shops, a good supermarket, ski hire touristoffice, bistro/pizzeria and hotel resaurants. Around the village are various pretty chalet style hotels ranging from 1-4 stars . All have restaurants (one has a michelin star) that provide a good variety of meals including set menu and traditional Savoyade specialties. At least three are within easy walking distance of Les Cerises. Banks, pharmacies and hypermarkets can be found in Sallanches only a short drive away.

Accommodation detail

The self contained spacious (50m2) apartment is located on the ground floor of our chalet with access through French doors from the living room to lawn and garden. There is a seating area with garden furniture, barbecue and table tennis during summer months.

The apartment consists of a entrance hall leading to two bedrooms, one twin and one double a bathroom with bath and shower over and a separate WC. (On occasions when we have a family with three children, one of the beds in the twin room can be exchanged for bunk beds.)

The comfortable lounge has a double sofa bed and a dining area, fitted corner kitchen with a full cooker/oven. It is tastefully decorated, well furnished and very homely. It is very well equipped with microwave, TV (with english satellite), video, DVD and CD/stereo unit and wireless internet service. All linen and towels are included in the rental. There is a washing machine that can be used at a small extra charge. The apartment enjoys the same spectacular views of Mont Blanc and valley as the chalet.

About the location

The area of the Haute Savoie has spectacular scenery taking in mountains, lakes, glaciers, charming traditional old towns, chateaux and picturesque villages. Both Italy and Switzerland are readily accessible for day trips from Cordon.

There are endless places of interest to visit and activities for both young and old. For example, the tourist centre of Chamonix, 25minutes by road, situated at the foot of Mont Blanc has a cable car to the Aiguille du Midi which at 3842m (12,600ft), gives incredible views into Switzerland and Italy and a further cable car across the glacier takes you into the Italian Alps. A mountain railway also runs to the Mer de Glace glacier.

Only 15 minutes by car from Cordon is the Tramway du Mont Blanc which takes you up to the Bronnassay glacier and starting point of the summer climb/walk to the summit of Mont Blanc. It stops at stations on the way where walks can be taken to discover alpine flowers and mountain wildlife.

Close at hand are the popular towns of Megeve and St. Gervais, the Lake at Passy and the enchanting Lac Vert.

An hours drive brings you to Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) and the towns of Evian Thonon and Geneva. Also the picturesque medieval village of Yvoire where a 25min trip on a 'steamer' will take you across the lake into Switzerland.   Travelling south takes you to Annecy with its famous clear lake, quaint old town and castle.

How to get here

From Calais the motorway runs right through to Sallanches which is 3 miles from Cordon. The drive is 560 miles and takes approximately eight hours.The nearest international airport is Geneva which is 50 minutes on the motorway to Cordon. Lyon is approx. 2 hours. Geneva flights leave from all major UK airports. Car hire is readily available there.

There are train services from Gare de Lyon (Paris) including TGV and we provide a free collection service from Sallanches station, although to enjoy the area to its full, the use of a car is recommended.
