Beautiful Farmhouse, Grange and Cottage

Welcome to La Bastide, Puycalvel in the beautiful and unspoilt Tarn! After 25 years owning English country house hotels, Ian and Jocelyn Bryant have retired to create three well furnished and equipped gites for self-catering guests who like to crash out in some degree of comfort.

La Bastide consists of a farmhouse (sleeps 8/10), the grange (sleeps 6/7) and the cottage (sleeps 2/3). Each gite can be rented individually whilst the farmhouse and grange can also be booked as one large property for up to 17 people. (See owners' website in the Contact Details box for more details and pictures) Each gite is equipped with French and BBC/satellite TV, video, radio/CD player, cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave oven and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room.

La Bastide is a 17th Century farmhouse set in 4.5 hectares of meadows and maquis on a sheltered promontory in the hills 35k south of Albi. We live on the edge of the property, out of your way, but on hand when you need us.

The large large 12m x 6m pool and terraces look down the valley. Outdoor facilities include a play barn, ping pong, barbecues, volley ball and badmington, boules and swings.

Holiday Accommodation at The Farmhouse & Grange

  • The Farmhouse - has living room opening onto terrace, dining room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms , 3 bathrooms and sleeps 8/10. Total floor area is 240 square metres.
  • The Grange - is attached to the farmhouse and has a huge 6m high kitchen/living/dining area with terrace, 2 bedrooms, a large mezzanine and two bathrooms and sleeps 4/6. Total floor area is 135 square metres.

About Puycalvel in Tarn, Midi Pyrenees

The beautiful historic cities of Carcassonne and Toulouse are both about 1 1/4 hours away, whilst Albi is 35 mins.

Local amenities include a village shop (1km) for fresh bread, shops and restaurants.

The Tarn is a delightful area for ramblers and of particular interest to botanists and birds and butterfly enthusiasts. (See our own site for more details.)

It is also recognized as the best part of France for astronomy, with a sky so clear and sharp that visitors marvel at the stars as they have rarely seen them before.

Additional price information

 

  • All prices are per week and inclusive of all linen (even pool towels), electricity, welcome pack, and end of week cleaning.
  • Minimum stay 1 week Saturday to Saturday unless by special agreement.
  • Prices for all weeks excluding peak season are 2 people in the farmhouse or grange or cottage. Please go to our own website to see full price grids.
    Peak season prices are fixed regardless of number of occupants.
  • 25% deposit with booking, balance and £100 refundable deposit 8 weeks prior to arrival.
  • Cancellation policy: 13 weeks prior to arrival - full refund; if less than 13 weeks but not less than 8 weeks - 50%; 
    8 weeks or less - no refund unless we are able to re-let the accommodation.
