Railway Signal House with Private Pool

This property is an old railway signal house. It was the seventh signal point on the line from the market town of Bram to Lavelanet in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The line was closed in the early 1970's.

The house is situated just outside the typically French village of Montreal. The village is well equipped with many village shops, including a bakery, butchers, bank (with cash machine), post office, doctors, pharmacy, bar/restaurant and a café etc. There is also a supermarket, which is conveniently open on Sunday mornings.

Ground Floor

• Kitchen - fully equipped with electric oven, induction hobs, dishwasher microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron, etc.
• Lounge - lovely and comfortable with fireplace, leather setee, TV, video,DVD and CD player. Double doors lead into the dining room/conservatory with table and chairs and sliding patio doors lead onto a lovely terrace which overlooks the beautiful and well-kept garden and swimming pool.

First Floor

• 2 double bedrooms - with double beds.
• Bathroom - with corner bath/shower attachment, toilet and washbasin,heated towel rail and hand hairdryer.

A cot and high chair are available if needed.

Garden

The private pool is a beautifully shaped 10m x 5m free form pool with surrounding terrace. The garden has a wonderful ambiance and is built on two levels with lawned areas, fruit trees and shrubs. There is another patio area set in an alcove with table and chairs, the perfect place to sit and enjoy the local wine, floodlit pool and sunsets. Both garden and pool are enclosed making it safe and secure for children. There is plenty of garden furniture throughout the garden and a gas barbecue is also supplied.

A caretaker looks after the property so you can be assured of everything being well maintained and in working order.

• The fortified town of Carcassonne: The "Cite" of Carcassonne is the largest fortress in Europe. A visit here will transport you back to the Middle Ages. (20 mins. by car).
• Cathar country: There are many fortresses you can visit in this area dating back to the thirtieth century. (Approx. 1 hr + to the south).
• Mediterranean beaches: Miles of sandy beaches to suit all. (Less than 1 hrs drive to the east).
• The Pyrenees: (1hrs drive). Further a field the duty free principality of Andorra. (1.5 hrs drive).
• Canal du Midi: Running from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coasts. The banks of the canal provide a shady walking/cycling track. Boats can be hired. The nearest point from us is the market town of Bram. (10 mins.)
