Surrounded by the Bordeaux vineyards of Virsac, le "Prieuré de Virsac" is an impressive 13th Century Priory, set in a private road and enclosed walled garden, and owned by the same family for generations.  It's an ideal location from which to raid the great Châteaux of Médoc, Graves, Sauternes and Saint Emilion.  

The property would suit several families together.

Ground Floor

Small lounge/TV room, large lounge furnished in a comfortable style with easy chairs, large dining room with a round table for 20.
Another smaller sitting/dining room with old fashioned kitchen, but well equipped with all modern machines (microwave, dishwasher, big gas cooker), washing machine and 2  fridge-freezers in a utility room.
Breakfast room seating 18 people, from which a door leads to the terrace with furniture and parasol.
The ground floor also has a double bedroom, a lobby with separate WC and an old bathroom with shower

First Floor

From downstairs lobby, stairs lead to a half-landing with separate wc, bathroom with shower, 1 twin bedroom and one with 4 single beds and a TV. 
Further stairs lead to a landing with 4 twin and 2 double bedrooms, and two shower rooms with a loo.

Outside:

The pool is fenced off for the safety of young children.  There is a covered area for table tennis and a large barn has been converted into an indoor gymnasium for basketball, mini tennis, badminton and volleyball. The garden and pool are tended by a caretaker who lives in a cottage in a separate part of the grounds. Outside, near the pool are a barbecue and fridge.

Bicycle hire is available.

About the location

For beaches choose from the quiet sandy beaches at Meschers on the North shore or the Gironde or the wilder beaches of the Atlantic coast (Arcachon, with the highest sand-dune of Europe, Royan, Lacanau...).  The inland lakes of Lacanau and Carcans, ideal for sailing and windsurfing are about 1 hour' drive.  Bordeaux, only 20 minutes drive from le Prieuré, with its elegant 18th century buildings, is one of the most attractive towns in France and is ideal for cultural or gastronomic visits.
