Home description

An attractive period house with elegant rooms and traditional shutters in a medieval village to the north of the River Gardon. The village is in an ideal position, equidistant from Uzes, Nimes and Ales.

Outside is a pretty walled courtyard garden with high gates (safe for children). A Persimmon tree provides shade! Garden furniture and barbecue for eating al fresco.

Comfortably furnished whether you area party of  2 or 8 with high ceilings throughout and period features.

Ground Floor

• Lovely big sitting room with comfy sofas, feature working stone fireplace, and large window and double doors to garden;
• Large kitchen/diner with round table,  fully equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and glasses;
• Table tennis room and utility with washing machine, large fridge, beach equipment etc;
• Twin bedroom with period fireplace;
• Downstairs WC;
• Hallway and elegant stone curved staircase;
• Courtyard garden with B-B-Q,  table and chairs and shade!

First  floor

• Two large bedrooms with double and single beds and fireplaces;
• One double bedroom;
• Large family bathroom with good shower/shower bath, bidet, two basins and WC, marble floor;
• Linen room and walk in wardrobe;
• Balcony with view.

The top floor is newly decorated with a new bathrom. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher, and it is comfortably furnished throughout.  The living  room has lots of room for relaxing or for children to play.  All rooms have electric heating and there is a telephone, TV and cd/radio/cassette player, large travel cot, and high chair.

Sleeps from 2 to 8 comfortably plus babies.

About the location

St Maurice de Cazevieille is in the beautiful westen tip of Provence 15 kilometres North West of medieval  Uzes and 20km North East of historic Nimes. Village amenities: really pretty restaurant and bar, excellent  boulangerie and butcher, small supermarket, post office, tennis court and riding centre  - all within a few minutes walk. All are highly recommended. Behind the house is the medieval sector of the village with its ancient archways, narrow streets and superb views - a lovely place for an evening stroll.

Uzes with its famous Saturday market, stylish shops and restaurants, fenestral tower and Duche is a must. There is good swimming, kayaking, sightseeing and  walking in the river Gardon (20 minutes) the Cevennes mountains (40 Minutes) and the Ceze valley with the beautiful Cascades de Ceze (also 40 minutes). The Mediterranean with safe sandy beaches is also under an hours drive away through the Camargue where you can spot the famous white horses, bulls and flamingoes. Avignon with its world famous festival, Papal Palace and beautiful squares and streets is also in easy reach, so you won't run out of things to do. A file of suggestions on  where to go, where to eat etc. stays in the house - all additions welcome.

How to get here

Very easy! Fly drive to Nimes (30 minutes by car) Montpellier (45 min by car), Marseilles (75 mins) or Avignon (45 minutes). Motorail to Avignon (45 min), and TGF. If you want to drive all the way then we are 40 minutes from Autoroute du Soleil (exit Bollène).
