Studio Gîte near the Lot River

"Les Glycines" (Wisteria Cottage) lies in the heartland of the Cahors vineyards in the tiny hamlet of Anglars-Juillac beside the Lot river.

Just 3.5km from the market town of Prayssac and 25km West of Cahors, this charming studio/gîte will provide an ideal base for exploring the history, the beautiful countryside, the chateaux, the prehistoric caves and gastronomy of this timeless region.

The gîte is in the grounds of our restored Quercy stone house and adjoins a lovely old barn.  There are views out across the garden and through the trees to the Chateau D'Anglars.

We also have 3 double bedrooms and a further bathroom/WC in the main house but accessed by separate entrance.  These rooms are set-up for B & B but could be combined with the gite to accommodate a larger party if required.

Special prices by arrangement for larger parties wishing to book the gîte and additional rooms for a maximum of 8 adults.

Holiday Accommodation at Les Glycines Gîte

Accommodation in the gîte is arranged as follows and is suitable for 2 adults.

Ground Floor

  • Open plan kitchen / dining / living room - double wooden entrance doors open into the room.  To the left hand side is a kitchen area with cooker, fridge, an old Belfast sink and all that you will need for comfortable summer style self-catering. There is an antique pine dining table and 4 chairs plus storage areas for food, vegetables and wine!
  • Bathroom - comprising bath, shower and loo is also set off this room and has been tastefully refurbished to blend in with the stone walls, beamed ceilings and tiled floors.

First Floor

By means of a wooden staircase, the living room and bedroom is carpeted throughout and has some beautiful exposed roof beams.

  • Bedroom - there is a queen size double bed, with mosquito net above, a comfortable sofa, wardrobe, cupboard, antique wash stand, linen chest and occasional table.  Much of the furniture has been handpainted by the owner and the rustic character of the room and indeed the whole building has been meticulously preserved.  A CD mini stereo system is also installed in this room.

The Garden

Guests have use of part of the gardens and can relax either in the sun or shade.

There is garden furniture available including a swing seat, a table and 4 chairs, a parasol, loungers, deckchairs and a barbecue.

A 10m x 5.5m pool is available for all our guests and is shared with the owners.

About Anglars Juillac in Lot, Midi Pyrenees

The village of Anglars lies in the heart of the Cahors vineyards (Circuit des Vins) and many a day can be spent touring and tasting the local produce!  We have some information regarding a number of producers in the area and would be pleased to assist you to find the right bottle for your cellar!

There are numerous local markets all over the region but the best are to be found in Cahors, Libos, Cazals, Gourdon and Prayssac.  These are regular weekly events and are often complimented by summer 'specials' and night markets too.  (We can provide details during your stay).

As far as eating out is concerned, the choices are many and varied and the regional gastronomy is well worth sampling: specialities include Foie Gras and Magret de Canard (duck breast) as well as walnuts and goats cheeses and not forgetting the famous red wines of Cahors!
