Enjoy the peace of 'Le Four Rouge', situated on the edge of a quiet farming hamlet, surrounded by french countryside.

At Le Four Rouge we have three adjoining gite properties in our barn conversion, one of which sleeps 4 and the other two sleep 5 people, plus two detached cottages sleeping 2 or 6 people. Our largest cottage has ground floor accommodation suitable for guests with restricted mobility.

Our properties are stone built with tiled floors and are open plan in design with many internal beams exposed in order to add to their rustic charm. Three of them have wood burning fires for warmth on cooler evenings. They all have their own outside area with patio furniture and barbecues.

There is a shared ‘figure-of-eight’ shape pool and plenty of space for play or quiet relaxation. In the grounds we have a well equipped children’s play area with swings, slides, climbing frame and sand-pit. There is a boules track and a further acre of field is available for ball games.  There are chairs and tables located around the grounds, some in the sun and some under the cool shade of our two large oak trees.

The terraced swimming pool is 11m x 7m and has a constant depth of 1.20 m. It is fully fenced and gated in accordance with french regulations.

We also have plenty of games, toys, books and videos for children and adults of all ages.

Wi-fi is available in the grounds, (but not inside the properties).

Le Four Rouge provides an ideal base for touring the famous vineyards and chateaux of the Loire. There are nearby forests and lakes with safe man-made beaches, providing swimming, watersports and cycling and walking trails. Golf and fishing are also popular in this area. The coastal resort of La Baule, with its 5km long sandy beach, is approximately one hours drive away.

Accommodation detail

A spacious 3 bedroom/2 shower room detached cottage. Once the farm's cider house this cottage has been converted to provide spacious and airy accommodation. It is open plan in design with beamed and vaulted ceilings with floors tiled throughout. It has full gas central heating and additional wood burner in the lounge for the winter months. Hot water is instant and plentiful.

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor and thus well suited for persons of restricted mobility.

Ground floor

• Kitchen - fitted and includes a fridge freezer, gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave oven, kettle and toaster. French doors open onto the terrace and garden which is south facing thus benefiting from 'all day sun'. Two low steps lead into the sitting room.
• Sitting room - the original brick built fireplace provides the focal point in this room, which is comfortably furnished in a modern but traditional style enhanced by subtle lighting. A music system C.D,  television (french and UK channels) and video are available for your use. The sitting room has French doors opening onto the garden and terrace.
• Bedroom 1 - a double room with ensuite shower room.
• Bedroom 2 - has full sized twin beds and is adjacent to the 'family shower room'.
• Mezzanine - is bright and airy with a double bed

Outside

The garden and terrace which has a barbecue and patio furniture.

On site laundry room with sink, washing machine, iron and board.

There is an allocated covered parking space to the front of the property.

About the location

Le Four Rouge is found in a small farming hamlet looking out over open farmland in the picturesque Western Loire approximately 1 hour 45 mins from the port of St. Malo. It provides a quiet rural location yet we are just 3km from the market town of Chateaubriant with its 12th century chateau and 1.5km from our local village store, church, boulangerie and bars. Providing an ideal base for touring the famous vineyards and chateaux of the Loire, an approximate 45 minute drive leads you to the "muscadet" wine-growing area situated around Nantes incorporating many kilometres of sign posted scenic drives.

Additional price information

• Our prices are inclusive of water, gas and electricity.  The price is not inclusive of wood for the fire.
• For lettings between 1st January and 27th May an additional £35 per week will be charged for heating.
• Bed linen is provided. Towels are available at £5.00 per person.  A towel pack includes 1 bath sheet and 1 hand towel per person, plus 2 tea towels and 1 kitchen hand towel.  Pool towels are not provided.  If your stay is for more than one week and you require a change of towels during your stay, you must pay for an extra pack per person.
• Cleaning is not included; guests are required to leave the property fully cleaned in readiness for incoming guests.
• Group bookings accepted up to a maximum of 22.
• This property is also available for longer term winter lets. Please enquire for details.
• Travel cots, highchairs and baby baths are available free of charge.
• If you would like to bring a pet you must inform us of this at the time you make the initial enquiry about availability.  Please read our Terms and Conditions carefully in respect of this before completing the Booking Form.
• A deposit of 100 euros in cash is payable on arrival to cover breakages/damage.
