On a hillside bordering Lac du Chastang, part of the river Dordogne, situated in a lovely garden of 1 hectare with a private swimming pool is this charming 6-bedroom villa, built in 1975 in the local mansion style. With all modern comforts, a spacious living with French doors opening to the garden and swimming pool of 8 x 4 m2, an extra sitting room, a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and central heating, the villa sleeps 12 people in comfort and style.

The villa is spacious with an authentic atmosphere, beautiful private terraces with a lovely view and a large lawn. It was built in 1975 with double glazed windows and central heating.

Grounds:

The house is perched on a hill and offers a splendid view over the lake and there is ample space to play and lounge in the sun or in the shade of the old walnut or cherry tree. The pond is fed by a natural spring.

Garden loungers, tables and chairs, umbrellas are all provided on the terrace around the swimming pool.

At the bottom of the driveway you only have to cross the quiet road to access the lake. At the back of the garden is a fence where a footpath leads you to the village. The garden has a low stone wall around it that only separates it from the forest. Parking space in front of the garage for 4 cars.

Villa Le Clos comprises:

Ground Floor

• Hall with entrance, staircase.
• Living / sitting / dining room 62 m², with 4 pretty French windows to lakeside and garden, is L-shaped with TV/VCR and CD player. A wood burning stove for chilly evenings adds to the French atmosphere in this room with it's ancient beamed ceilings and terracotta floor tiles.
• Country style kitchen 20 m², is inviting to gourmet cooking, offers all amenities like dishwasher, oven, microwave, 4-ring gas hob, coffeemaker, electric kettle, fridge etc.
• Extra room 20 m², has a sofa bed that sleeps two and an extra single bed, but also a coffee table and chairs and family games. This room is ideal for anybody wanting to play games, write or read a book, or any other activities or hobbies, but it is also a bedroom for the elderly.

• Bathroom: With Toilet, bath/shower, bidet and wash basin.

First Floor 

• Bedroom 1 and 2: The two tower rooms are joined with a staircase going up to the second room and a balcony on the lakeside. One antique Queen size bed, 140 x 190 cm and 2 twin beds of 90 x 200 cm.
• Bedroom 3: One double room with King size bed, 160 x 200 cm, side tables, reading lamps, dressing table, mirror.
• Bedroom 4: One twin room with beds of 90 x 200 cm, side tables, reading lamps, dressing table.
• Bedroom 5: One Double room with King size bed of 160 x 200 cm, side tables, reading lamps, dressing table, and one extra single bed.
• Bedroom 6: One room with a bunk bed
• Bathroom: With bath/shower, bidet and wash hand basin. Laundry machine.
• Separate toilet

The bathrooms are modern and have unlimited warm water. All beds, with exception of the antique bed in the tower room are new and come with pillows and duvets. Bedlinen and towels are provided for. You only have to bring your own beach towels.

Children: Baby cot, playpen and highchair are available.

About the location

Spontour is a picturesque village in the valley of the Dordogne with a history of boat building, called "Gabares", which were extensively used to transport goods and timber during the time the Dordogne was a wild river. Nowadays the same vessels serve tourists a purpose for trips on the lake.

Now, Lac du Chastang is a 700 hectare part of the historic Dordogne, and closed in by 2 enormous dams: Barrage d'Aigle and Barrage du Chastang. The lake offers all the pleasures of sandy beaches, lovely water temperature and there is a small rowing boat moored in front of the house for the guests of Le Clos. Spontour had a tennis court and a campsite with swimming pool.

The surroundings of Spontour, with altitudes of 300 to 650 meters is an ideal area for long walks, mountain biking, bird watching and generally a relaxed life style with long summer nights. Golf courses are in Mauriac (17km) Aubazine, west of Tulle. 45 km downstream you can canoe-kayak in Argentat in the running waters of the Dordogne. From the back of the garden leads a ancient foot path to the village which can be the start point of many long walks. The ski slopes of the Massif Central are only within one hours drive away (till 1850 m).

Shopping: In Spontour is a bar-tabac with bread service. In Soursac at 9 km is a grocery, butcher etc. Pharmacy: Lapleau 12km. There are 2 Supermarkets and other shops in Mauriac 17km.

Gastronomy: the area is famous for some very authentic French produce like goose liver (foie gras), goats cheeses, a selection of local mushrooms, honey, game, duck , Limosin beef (top quality world wide) , trout and fresh berries.
