Nestled in the rolling countryside of an area steeped in romantic history, in the foothills of the Montagne Noir rich with fine wines and cuisine, and virtually undiscovered by tourism, La Rochette is truly a "hidden treasure" infused with a sense of tranquility and privacy. A place where the artist in your soul can come alive.

La Rochette is an ancient cottage near the village of Puylaurens surrounded by enormous shade trees, flowers, meadows and rolling fields of sunflowers. Truly a retreat from a bustling world. You will find vegetables in the organic garden, books to read, music to listen to, country kitchen with spices and basic items for cooking, large claw-foot tub with lots of hot water where you can relax and look out into the garden.

You'll first spy the cottage through the lush foliage and the sweet fragrance of lilacs as you descend a small footpath from your parked car, past the organic vegetable garden and into a courtyard resplendent with flowers and shade trees.

The cottage comprises:

The kitchen is totally equipped with everything needed to prepare your favourite recipes. The spice shelf boasts a good assortment of spices, coffee, tea and olive oil and vinegar. You will find a loaf of freshly baked organic bread, a selection of cheeses and butter, and a bottle of local wine awaiting your arrival. You are welcome to choose your dinner from the vegetables and fruit in the organic garden. The table seats four, fridge with freezer, stove with oven, microwave, dishwasher and fireplace.

Cosy bedroom with double bed.

Study with a stereo with C.D and cassette player with radio, drawers filled with cassettes and shelves full of books and magazines, maps of the area, writing paper, games and art supplies.

Bathroom  adorned with lots of plants, which has an old roomy claw-foot bathtub where you can view the flower garden as  you soak. 

Facilities include:Washing machine, iron and ironing board, dishwasher, clothes dryer, barbecue grill and telephone.

The only access is by a short footpath giving the house total privacy.
Unsuitable for the elderly or infirm or for very young children.
The owner lives in a village approximately 20 minutes away and is available by cell phone if there is a problem.

About the location

The cottage is a scenic one hour drive from the airport in Toulouse. There are daily flights from Paris (1 hr.) or London (1 hr. 30 min.).

The vineyards of Gaillac, medieval villages of Cordes, Bruniquel, Pennes, the ancient brick city of Albi with its Toulouse Lautrec museum, the walled city of Carcassonne and the rose city of Toulouse are all approximately 1 hour away. The Pyrenean mountains and the Mediterranean are 2 hours away.
