About Seillans in Var, Provence - Cote d'Azur
Situated 35 km from Draguignan, Fréjus, St Raphaël and the Corniche d?Or, Seillans is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France. Built around its castle, with cobbled streets, rustic portals, shaded courts, ancient fountains and delightful 13th century church, Seillans has inspired many artists and attracts visitors from all over the world lured by the charming scenery combined with the sunny climate and proximity to the Mediterranean. Lake St Cassien is also within easy reach.
Environment : Situated in the country, in a wooded area away from all disturbances. 5 min from Seillans village, which is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
PLACES TO VISIT:
Fayence. 10 km. Much visited hill top fortified village, between sea and mountains and surrounded by picturesque Provencal countryside. Also renowned for its gliding centre, often considered the best in Europe.
Callian. 15 km. Small but charming medieval village with its own castle and winding streets. Starting place for many hikes and walks.
Draguignan. 25 km. Pleasant town once a military centre but now with tourist and cultural attractions. Lovely avenues lined with plane trees surround the old city. Excellent shopping and markets. Several museums.
Fréjus. 30 km. Seaside resort, ancient military port and Roman city, with a rich and impressive historical and architectural heritage. Some stunning scattered Roman remains can still be seen including one of the largest amphitheatres from Gallic times and a Roman theatre still in use for summer events.
THINGS TO DO:
Golf du Domaine de Terre Blanche, Tourrettes. 15 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 6616m. One of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe, designed to host professional tournaments and featuring long par 4s. Magnificent views of the hillside villages and oak forests.
St Cassien lake. 15 km. Beautiful lake with clean water and small beaches, and lovely place for windsurfing and other watersports. Ideal to cool off on a hot day!
Les Grottes de St Cézaire, St Cézaire sur Siagne. 30 km. Discovered in 1890 by a local farmer whilst working his land. Full of fantastic formations including draperies, stalactites and stalagmites. Spectacular underground landscapes.
Aqualand, Fréjus. 35 km. Waterpark. Fantastic waterpark with a great number of water rides for the whole family, including the largest wave pool in Europe and the huge Twin-Twister water slide. Not for the faint hearted!
FURTHER AFIELD:
Grasse. 35 km. Fascinating historic town and world's perfume capital. Explore the delightful narrow streets or go on one of the factory tours offered by some of the most famous perfume houses.
Flayosc. 35 km. Pretty town with typical Provencal streets and great views from the church out across the vineyards.
Cannes. 45 km. Beachside resort with its large promenade, chic boutiques, restaurants, bars, shops and festivals including the famous Cannes film festival in May each year. A walk along the ?Croisette?, harbour and sandy beaches is a must.
Gorges du Verdon. 65 km. Europe?s largest river canyon and one of France?s greatest natural wonder with twisting narrow roads, dramatic scenery, awesome views but also lofty little villages and chapels clinging to the rocks. THE place for climbing, rafting, canyoning, kayaking...
