About the location

Situated within easy reach of unmissable Saint Rémy de Provence and Tarascon, Maillane is a tranquil village nestled in a magnificent landscape: hills covered with olive trees and cypresses, long flat roads lined with plane trees, vineyards, small shaded village squares... sleepy villages, this is the true Provence as often depicted.

PLACES TO VISIT:
St Rémy de Provence. 7 km. As picturesque and Provencal as can be, with narrow winding streets, shady squares, fantastically old fountains, elegant shops, art galleries and plenty of bars and restaurants. The village and surrounding countryside has inspired many artists including Van Gogh who produced more than 150 paintings of the area. Also birthplace of Nostradamus.
Avignon. 14 km City of history and city of theatre, the fortified city of Avignon marked by papal history will charm you with its ancient streets, spectacular monuments and museums and impressive number of cafes and restaurants. Its famous bridge still stands over the Rhone river.
Fontvieille. 17 km Pleasant town famous for its windmill which inspired 19th century writer Alphonse Daudet, when he wrote 'Letters from my Windmill' - a sort of 19th century 'Year in Provence' look at the lives of everyday people in the region.
Arles. 23 km. Vibrant city of festivals, art and culture, with extraordinarily well-preserved Roman arena (the very same that was the scene of the Roman games in the 1st century!), backed by an equally impressive variety of other stones and monuments, both Roman and medieval. Linked with Gaugain, Van Gogh and Picasso.

Ghost Paintball, Le Mas Vérans, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence 7km Ghost Paintball is located at the foot of the Alpilles to St. Remy de Provence. Come and indulge yourself with an adrenaline rush without risk, either alone or with friends. A perfect setting to experience paintball safely!
Golf les Baux de Provence, Les Baux de Provences. 14 km. Situated on a rocky plateau at 245 m it overlooks exceptional landscapes around Arles, the Camargue and the southern plains and offers breathtaking panoramas. One of the musts in Provence! In the heart of the estate, the 16 hectare picturesque 9 hole course known as "Alpilles" is situated in an exceptional position in the middle of the vines, olive trees and perfumes of Provence.
Parc Animalier L'arc En Ciel, Molleges 17km. Park with various farm animals. Playgrounds for children and a picnic area available.
Le Parc des Labyrinthes Géants, La Roque d'Anthéron. 47 km. Maze. A 4-hectare field and one of the largest permanent mazes in the world with over 9000 laurel trees and 6 km of paths. Ideal for a family day out.

Les Saintes Maries de la Mer. 64 km. In the heart of Camargue's Parc Naturel, surrounded by immense plains filled with ponds and wild lands. Traditionally the meeting place for the gypsy people whose rich folklore and music attract many visitors all throughout the year.
Aix en Provence.86 km. Stunningly beautiful and vibrant city, distinctively Provencal, with sunny squares filled with cafes, broad avenues lined with gigantic plane trees and tempting restaurants, and a substantial historical centre with elegant shops and attractive houses.
Marseille. 94 km. Second largest city in France, cosmopolitan and exuberant, renowned for its picturesque old port and Bouillabaisse (a tomato based soup with a multitude of different fish and shellfish).
Aubagne. 110 km. Pleasant town surrounded by hills and rocky crags, with nicely renovated old quarters. Birthplace of Marcel Pagnol of ?Jean de Florette? fame.
