Quercy Blanc - is the region between The Lot and Tarn rivers and is one of the oldest wine producing regions in France. This is a landscape of buzzards, red squirrels, nightingales, butterflies, and there are so many wild flowers and orchids-this is natures paradise.
The medieval villages stand on hills, are very picturesque and though aware that they stand in the 20th century still give you a feeling that time has stood still. Farms have combined, rural property has become vacant and in this beautiful countryside, with unused roads winding up through woodland and vineyard it is not unusual to come across the distinctive profile of an old Quercynoise limestone farmhouse with its roman tiles and pigeonnier (dovecote).
Toulouse airport is just 60-75 minutes drive and with the enormous investment in road and rail in France, it is now possible to be remote from the world whilst still in touch with it. St. Malo and Le Havre ports are 8-9 hours driving time and there is a local airport at Cahors. Paris is 5 hours by train to Cahors and faster by T.G.V. to Agen, and under and hour by plane. The Pyrenees and Spain are about 3 hours drive, as are the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. Gastronomy abounds, from the local auberges to 3 star Michelin restaurants and many general interests such as golfing, boating, swimming, riding, fishing etc. This part of rural France remains unspoilt and beautiful - and there are no traffic jams!
We have lived here since October 1988 and gained considerable knowledge of French bureaucracy, builders etc. We will happily give you all the help and information you need whilst searching for a property - we are here to make it easier for you to find the right property in this lovely region.
Please let us have your property specifications and when you are able to visit, we will then send you details of suitable properties and contact surrounding real estate agencies for an update on properties for you to view whilst you are here. This will save you time, both now and later - and makes sure that you don't miss the house of your dreams. The sooner you can visit the better as the property market is still very bouyant here.
Accommodation: If you decide to stay with us we can chat over an aperitif or dinner and discuss the houses seen and what we are viewing tomorrow - if an offer can be made on the property - where the nearest furniture and electrical shops are - where to buy building materials and - (if any renovations are needed) - where can I find a builder? All these questions and lots more can be answered - why not benefit from our experiences and relax in comfort.
Bed and breakfast is from 55 euros per night for two people, inclusive - or self catering in our 17th century farmhouse with lovely views over the peaceful Lot countryside, from 200 euros per week.
