L'Ile-Tudy is a very sweet and quaint fisherman's village, with quite a few cafés and restaurants on the harbour, facing the sunset. A very popular place in the evening, for an apéritif, as cars are forbidden in that part of the village. Every Saturday, you will find some sort of party being held, ranging from sailors songs, mussels & chips evening, old sailing boats gathering to celtic music, and of course on the 14th July and the 15th August  fireworks, etc..... with music and dancing until 2 a.m.

Market day is on Monday. Don't miss it, especially in July, as it is held on the quay. August's market is on the main street.

L'ile-tudy has become one of the fashionable place of west Brittany, where quite a few europeans have bought the old houses. It used to be an island, a bridge was built a century ago, then slowly sand filled in the marshes. Now it has kept all the typical charm of an island, without the nuisance of crossings, ferry waiting, etc.....

It is very narrow, at the end, narrow streets just big enough to roll a "barrel of wine", and mostly to keep the wind and the sea out. One can see the water on either side, when standing in the main street, to the east the sea and to the west the river.

As the island is so narrow, car parking can be difficult, so stop at the first available parking place you find!
