Langon, in the South-Gironde is 48 km south-east of Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne river, near the border between a wine-growing region of Bordeaux and the forest of Landes.
Langon (Gironde) mini guide
The port at Langon, the capital of the southern Graves, is the highest on the Garonne to feel the tide. Its Gothic church of St-Gervais contains a picture by the 16th century Spanish painter Zurbaran (the Immaculate Conception), long forgotten and discovered by the local cure by accident in 1966.
Heritage in the Langon area is very varied. You can discover vernacular riches, medieval fortresses and the architecture of the wine chateaux.
