Montluçon has a medieval town centre with numerous timber houses and various old churches. The river Cher runs right through the centre of the town. Overlooking the town is the castle, once the domain of the Duke of Bourbon.

Every Saturday morning there is a wonderful flower market and Montluçon has won France’s competition for the best flower decorated city several times.
