Trôo is famous for its troglodyte cave houses built into the limestone hills.
Troo (Loir-et-Cher) mini guide
Troo is a charming and unusual village near the River Loir.
The name Troo comes from 'trou', meaning hole, an allusion to the caves which were dug into the hillside overlooking the river by Troglodytes who enlarged natural cavities in the rock with their flint tools.
Some 20 caves are occupied but there are a great many more which are unoccupied.
