Lizio is a town in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France. It has lots of character and is full of lovely stone houses. Artists and musicians run annual events here, throughout the season. There is a sculptor who makes interesting items out of recycled metal, an ecomusee, a folk culture museum and an insectarium. There is also a nice restaurant here.
The vast fortress of Josselin, built in 11th century, was rebuilt by Olivier de Clisson in 14th century. This is one of the very rare Breton chateaux still owned by descendants of the great Olivier de Clisson, one of the most feared knights in Breton history, who also became leader of the French army.
