The town of Malestroit, in south-eastern Brittany, is an unassuming yet fascinating little market town. In the place du Bouffay, in front of the church you will see that the houses are covered with unlikely carvings such as a hare playing playing the bagpipes. The church itself is decorated with drunkards and acrobats outside, torturing demons and erupting towers within.

In July there is an annual music festival, very popular with the young! There is a Museum of the French Resistance, on the site of a battle with the occupying Germans. The Museum offers rides on a WWII Half-Track.
