The eucumenical community of more than a hundred monks in Taizé attracts thousands of young people from throughout the world every week from Easter and through the summer months.  The services (three times a day) are a mixture of songs and silence.  The world famous Taizé chants are sung in many languages.  Services are open to the general public as well as to the resident pilgrims.  The church can be extended  from a relatively small area to cater for a congregation of a couple of hundred, up to a congregation of about 12 thousand when the community is at its fullest in the middle of the summer.
