Entremont Le Vieux is situated on the Savioe side of the Chartreuse pre-alps and is home to approximately 550 people.

A well-known museum in the town is dedicated to a relatively recent and significant archeological find. Cavers, exploring the limestone structures on nearby Mont Granier, happened across a cavern containing the remains of several thousand prehistoric bears.

While smaller than St. Pierre d'Entremont, there is a boulangerie, bar and a more than decent auberge offering excellent food at reasonable prices.

Just outside town is the site of the local cheese cooperative. This is a 'must' visit since they stock a wonderful selection of locally made cheeses, charcuterie and wines. Much of the local produce is organic.

Every summer, the folk of the town organise a craft fair featuring a wide range of arts/crafts and produce from the area. Local artisans are invited to demonstrate their often age-old techniques and encourage visitors to try for themselves.
