La Garde Freinet (Var)
La Garde Freinet is is a sleepy medieval-style Provence town less than half an hour's drive from the tourist beaches of St Tropez and St Maxime. It is situated on a pass with fine views. Of interest are the ruins of a former Saracen fortress on a hill to the north east of the village. This is about a 30 minute walk. You will be rewarded with impressive views from the top.
