Mervent (Vendée)

Mervent is set within the Mervent - Vouvant forest next to a lake, formed by the damming of the river Vendee. This lovely village is set on the hillside over looking the lake and offers spectacular views of the forest and the lake.

There are many local events and fetes held here. The local people are very welcoming and in and around the village there are many attractions, including swimming, pedaloes, kayaking, sailing, swinging in the trees, cycling, horse riding, walking, fishing and there is an amusement park (Pierre Brune) close by.

At one of the local bars, which has a decked area with the best view of the forest and lake, there is the famous " Vendee Chippy" every Thursday offering fish and chips with your glass of wine.
