The village of Villegailhenc is situated just 5 minutes North West of Carcassonne on the D118 to Mazamet. It is ideally situated to visit and explore all of the diverse sites and places of interest in Aude, without having the fuss of going in and out of the main city of Carcassonne.

The village is located in the heart of the Carbardes wine region, a rich, full bodied wine, which can be sampled at the local cave in Villegailhenc.
Villegailhenc has approximately 1,700 inhabitants. It has many local amenities, such as; a butchers, inexpensive supermarket (which sells fresh milk!), a French school, two hairdressers, bakers, butchers, fish shop, dentist, chemist, doctors, newsagents, pizza van, local market on Wednesdays. There is also a bar/restaurant, offering a selection of typical french meals.
In August the village comes to life with its annual party, there are different types of music, al-fresco dinning and children's entertainment.
If you enjoy walking or biking there are plenty of walks and trails in and around Villegailhenc.
