Along the "Flowered coast", the glamorous resort town of Deauville, home to the rich and famous, stands out. Deauville has been popular for the rich since Napoleon III’s cousin came to stay in 1861.

If you want to see a spectacular beauty and extraordinary dawns or sunsets, you must go to Deauville, as its immense sandy golden beach, will take your breath away. It is chic and pricey and serves as a weekend retreat for Parisians in need of rest and relaxation.
It is a thriving vacation spot with luxury hotels, casinos, racetracks, golf courses and polo grounds.
The marina stands with its impressive yachts and the famous catwalk, known as "Les planches" (643 metres long) is a must.
Its numerous boutiques, tearooms, cafes and restaurants will dazzle you.
Its architecture (free!) is superb and the walk along the beach is an enchanting.
The Villa Strassburger.
In 1097 Henry de Rothschild built this extraordinary house on a plot of land belonging to the family of the famous writer Gustave Flaubert. It is today a museum and is a historical monument.
In March there is the "Asian Film Festival" and in September "The American film festival" where, literally, one can rub shoulders with the stars.
Screening the best of the year's US film releases, "The Deauville Festival of American Cinema" is a popular event that attracts a mix of interested moviegoers and absolute film fanatics. The event focuses predominantly on America's burgeoning independent film scene and there are awards up for grabs in a number of categories. Well-attended by a raft of big name stars and directors, the festival has all the glitz and glamour one would expect from a movie industry get together
